Can you lose weight by walking?

I've been going on daily walks. About 35-40 minutes each, at a brisk pace. I also do yoga classes. Is this enough to kick start my metabolism and help me lose weight? Advice please :)

I think that weight loss is a good chunk due to what you're eating! :3 Have you taken a look at your diet and everything?
  • Yes.. I've been dieting my whole life :( I eat 1400-1500 cals a day

A healthy calorie deficit is what will determine whether or not your desired fat weight is lost.

I started where you were, thinking that I needed to walk or do cardio to lose the fat weight. Walking, I learnt from the good regulars of MFP, is what you can do, to improve your fitness, as a starting point. Doing this could/can be beneficial to your health. If that is what you'd like to do, it is a brilliant place to begin. :)

ETA: Cardio is also a good way to 'buy' eating calories - creating a deficit, whilst you eat it back. Does that make sense?

Walking and any exercise is great but it is more about diet... def look at macros like people talk about. Get enough protein n lots of water. Maybe spike ur cals up to 2000 once per week... I've done that and IT DOES WORK
  • thank you for all the help guys :)
