Good read here. Not surprising but a good read nevertheless.

ive never heard of low carb for athletic performance.

yeah seems odd to me too. The same applies for anaerobic performance also but it seems there are plenty of powerlifters who love keto for some reason.0

For purely endurance did Alan kinda agreed that it works? Just not for sprints?0

Bump to read later, thanks Chris.0

I don't believe so. Based on the fact that 2 of the 5 people in that study had very large declines in performance, 1 having a strangely high performance increase and 2 negligible.
That study suggested that the body did adapt to utilise fats for energy based on the RQ data but the performance increase or decrease seems like a bit of a hit or miss thing depending on the person. (just based on that study) And then goes on to say that it's unlikely that any of the current high level athletes would be willing to try a low carb style diet the amount of time that high carb diets have worked so well for them. It's possible but I know if I was getting paid to compete in a sport I wouldn't want to be risking my income on a possible increase with a highly probably decrease.0 -

Would have been epic to see the debate in person....0

yeah. That's the difference I guess. Some people know of the information and can google it from there and others just seem to know it like the back of their hand.
Have to ask though, does Dr Volek even lift? :laugh:0 -

I just wonder if Alan trolled him IRL during that debate.
"You can see here Mr. Volek that substrate utilization didn't differ between groups. You can also see on chart A that you don't even lift, and apparently graph C shows that you're mirin cuz you jelly".0 -
