Hi I've been doing CV workouts for approx 8 weeks, I do 20 mins rowing (5kms) and then 50mins on the bike (30kms). I've lost 28lb in this time from doing just these CV workouts (7 days a week), now I've lost the weight I would like to start strength training, I have no idea where to start, hints and tips would be most welcome.

Not sure if you're male or female, but here's a couple of books that are quite popular. There are groups for them on MFP as well.

I just started reading this book on New Rules-Lifiting-Women-Goddess (see link above someone provided) and it seems to be stepping the way through how very nicely. I am like you and have no idea and this book was highly recommended.0 -
My daughter and I are doing stronglifts. There are a lot of folks on MFP that are doing it as well.

I would suggest Stronglifts 5 x 5 or Starting Strength. Both are really good beginners strength training routines that are easy to follow for both men and women.
There is a group on MFP here called Stronglifts for Women which does now have a couple of men also, its very active and full of answers to all the questions you could ever ask.
Google both the above and look at the videos on Youtube.
Happy lifting :drinker: it ROCKS0 -

^^ This ^^
The simplicity of it is wonderful. Not tons and tons of routines to have to memorize, which makes it nice.0 -

QFT
I started with NROLFW and made it through Stage 1 but looking ahead, it got more complicated and required more equipment.
SL 5x5 is simple - 5 lifts to memorize. Instead of 12+.
