Ok so I work in Law Enforcement, Corrections to be specific.
It is not uncommon for me to work long long days at least once or twice or MORE a week.
For example take today. Last night at 8 pm I got a call for a third shift vacancy. I dont want to leave any of my pals hanging to work a double so I volunteered for the back half which means I came in at 2 am. When I go home it will be 2pm. 12 hours.
Now I know alot of people work twelve hours and feel great but really I got less than four hours of sleep and I feel like crud right now!
If you were me in my shoes would you rest tonight or go work out?
My body is telling me rest but my mind is calling me weak and a slacker.
What would you do?

Is it feasible for you to take a nap after you get off and then work out later in the day?0

I'd work out, but thats me. I have an insane schedule, 4 18 hours a days and a 13 hour day every week so I don't have much of a choice. But, I am also used to it. When you aren't used to it, a little less sleep makes a HUGE difference on how you feel. If you don't feel up to it, take it easy and go twice as hard at it next time your at the gym.0

i vote rest. your form will suffer, whatever exercise you do, and you'll be a gazillion times more likely to injure yourself.
i vote you sleep first & have a better, more effective workout when you wake up.0 -

Personally, I would rest. I'm someone who needs at least 8 hours of sleep to function and be in a good mood. And your body will thank you.0

I'd rest.
I know from personal experience (I work in a DA's Office) that the work you do is intensive and requires maximum alertness.
Get the rest you need now, you can workout later.0 -
listen to the body and rest.. i had this issue on wednesday and i woke up from a nap telln my self to go do a sprint workout but i knew i wasnt going to be able to give 100% so i saved my workout for the next day and now i just have one less rest day.0

For you, sleep under these circumstances counts as a workout.0

I'm always of the mind set that if you're ever doubting a work out based on how you're feeling physically then skip it.0
