Ok, I know body fat scales aren't very accurate. But I have been watching what I eat (doing 5:2, eating well on fast days, lots of fish and veg, just cutting the calories, normal days still pretty healthy) and going to the gym for about 10 weeks now, and I have gone from 72.5-64.8kg. :) My scales say my BF% has gone from 36.3, to 31% (this is weighing on the same day, at the same time each week)
So have I only lost <4kg in fat? Is the rest muscle? I do body pump regularly, some running/rowing/elliptical and some HIIT on the rower. Or should I just ignore the BF number on my scales (they are salter ones, you stand on them only, no handles to hold onto)

My math says you've lost 6.23 kg of fat and 1.47 kg of muscle

    72.5*36.3*.01=26.32
    64.8*31*.01=20.09

Yeah so with a loss of 7.7 kg then 81% of that was fat. The higher the better but this seems reasonable to me.

I have those scales at home but you have to take the measurements of those with a pinch of salt(er).

As long as its a download trend then its :)

I'm fairly consistent with my loss but I find some weeks it can be 0.1 % BF lost the next week 0.8 % lost, there's so many variables that can affect the reading.

Ah cool, thank you. I am good at maths, but my brain was failing me today!
I like those figures better :) Will have to do extra body pump to try and keep the muscle though!
