Quick question...

I've been at this for a month now, and I'm doing really well. At the beginning of February I started following the 1200 cal/day suggestion from my MFP app, and along with that, suggested serving sizes. It was hard at first of course (how else did I end up at 5'3" and 208lbs?) but the last week or two, I'm finding myself completely satisfied with the 1200 calories, and sometimes even less than that. Which brings me to my question...

If I feel satisfied and not even peckish, is my body still going into starvation mode if I'm eating less than 1200 calories per day? For instance, today I ate 998 calories (according to my app), and I pressed 'complete entry' and the app just gave me that starvation warning. Can my body really go into starvation mode if I'm not hungry?

I am not an avid exerciser, but I read a lot of these boards and see people experience this a lot. My doctor/nutritionist told me that noone should ever eat under 1600 calories unless they are diagnosed with a disease that needs them to drop weight fast.
But, as I said; I have read many posts and usually find those people that don't eat back exercise calories get stuck in slump fast.
How much does MFP say you are going to lose a week? Remember slower loss stays off longer.
    Keep reading peoples experiences.
  • Generally I do eat back a bit of my exercise as I'm normally a little hungrier on those days, though I don't have a percentage rule or anything, like I see some other members do. Saturday is my rest day though, so I didn't do any intentional exercise today. MFP says that eating 1200/day has me loosing 1.7lbs/week. I do know that slow and steady is better, and it's not something I'm doing intentionally even. Just that I've really been trying that whole not eating when I'm not hungry thing, and I'm not hungry and now it's bed time. But I don't want to put my body into starvation mode and undo all I've already accomplished!
