I just started jogging and my legs started to itch. When I stopped jogging the itching went away. Is there any connection from the two? If so what is causing it

I get that too. Used to be on my tummy more often. Sometimes it still happens, especially when I'm jogging outside when it's cold. It's because the skin and fat aren't used to that movement. It won't happen so often when you are used to it. Good for you for getting into jogging!! Hope this helps!:flowerforyou:0

That happens to me if I jog outside. Your skin heats up and starts to sweat and the cold in the air makes them itch. Try warmer pants?0

I had this exact same problem when I started running. I googled it and came up with this:
"Symptoms: When you start running, you feel an itchy sensation that is sometimes so bad, you have to stop running. It most often occurs if you run after a long period of inactivity.
If the itching is accompanied by a rash, it might be a different condition, such as exercise-induced anaphylaxis (see Embarrassing Running Problem #6).
Causes: The most common cause of itchy legs is actually because of what's happening inside the skin, not on it. When we exercise, the millions of tiny capillaries and arteries inside our muscles expand rapidly because of the demand for more blood. If we're fit, these capillaries remain open allowing maximum blood passage, but, when unfit and inactive, they tend to collapse, allowing only minimal blood passage (which, by the way, is fine for a sedentary person). The expansion of the capillaries causes adjacent nerves to send impulses to the brain, which then reads the sensation as an itch.
Prevention: The problem should go away once you have increased your fitness level.
Dry skin is also a common cause of itchiness, so if you think that's your issue, try using a moisturizing oil or lotion, especially after your bath or shower. You may also want to change your laundry detergent to one that contains no perfumes or dyes."0 -
I got itchy legs a lot too when I started running (which was in the summer, so it wasn't due to cold). I always hypothesized that it was due to the increased circulation. Turns out my guess wasn't too far off!
(Mine also get itchy from the miserable cold here in Minnesota--but that's a different story.)0 -
I HAVE exercise induced urticaria/anaphylaxis. And I'm on Pred. because of it. That's why I'm fat and have to lose wt.
The itchiness is not necessarily exercise induced urticaria. Do you get hives? You would most likely get hives/itching on your trunk and arms as well. Do you have problems breathing (asthma)? If so, I'd recommend seeing an allergist.0 -

Funny, I thought that was just me! When I first started working out quite a bit my stomach just itched like crazy. I never got a rash or anything, just got that crazy itch. It's mostly gone now, but still comes back from time to time, though not nearly as itchy.0 -
Looks like you are allergic to excersise! Jk! I agree with all of the other replies.0

I had this happen on my arms... inside & around my elbow area. Sounds funny! Anywho, it happened when I made a customized 25 minute boxing only work-out on the Wii EA Sports active. After a few times, it went away.0
