MFP sugar setting...

I go over my sugar limit everyday. I eat an apple and banana almost everyday and that puts me at my limit. I realize these are natural sugars, but still sugar. Should I be limiting the these foods and find better low sugar substitues (different fruits/veggies)?

I agree...I believe there is a way to custom-set your nutrition goals, but personally (probably not recommended) I don't log my fruit. If I were to log it, I wouldn't eat it b/c I'd worry so much about the sugar. I hope you figure out a solution!0

I go over the MFP sugar goal every day too! And it's just by eating a 1/2 cup of cherries in a protein shake I make and then one or two more grams throughout the day and I'm over. I have no idea how to cut it down - we need some fruit daily, right?0

I go over my sugar by the end of breakfast
I've decided not to care as long as I'm losing weight.
There is no way I'm going to stop eating fruit or my favorite yogurt!!0 -
Thanks. I just took notice to it today and realized I go over everyday. I want worry about it too much.0

IS there way to limit your settings for Sugar, Sodium, Carb, etc???0

I am feeling that I can't have everything! If my sugar is under the limit and my protein is at least close, then my cholesterol is way over. If my protein is way under, then I am over in sugar and fiber and most of the vitamins ... Where is the happy medium? I would be interested in looking at other peoples diaries who have found that balance ...0

I wouldn't worry if it is just the banana and apple putting you over. I tend to overlook the sugar from fruit and focus more on the added sugars in other products. That being said, I know I, for one, can't go overboard with the fruit and still expect to lose.0

Are you losing weight? If yes then I think you are fine to eat the fruit your currently eating because its natural sugar0

I don't eat any sugar but go over every day too, just from fruit, milk, etc. I don't worry about it as I know I'm not eating a bunch of candy or other sugary stuff.0

I am finding the sugar info in foods fascinating, but I find the MFP goal very unrealistic if you are aiming for 5-9 servings of fruits & veggies each day! The sugar in fruits/veggies comes packed with fiber & so many nutrients, that overrestricting it seems counterproductive to health! So I have custom set my sugar goal to include room for a couple of servings of fruit & plenty of veggies. It has been working fine for me as I am down 40 pounds since November. I have found as I've eliminated processed sugary foods, I notice and enjoy the natural sweetness in tomatoes, red peppers, and fruits.
Enjoy your fruit each day; I sure do!0
