new here this week

I am 45 year old male, married with two children. I work as a licensing coordinator for a non-profit for foster homes. I have a fairly heavy schedule since I am also going to school and starting my counseling internship in May. I try to go to the gym at least three times a week. I've been doing both strength training and running.

I am type 2 diabetic and trying to get my A1C test down below 6.5 by June. I was 8.6 this last week. I would also like to lose about 10-12 pounds.

You WILL succeed! Take one day at a time.

I think I joined MFP the end of January, but still feel very new to it! I say my heart was talking to me and waving a red flag, (doctors didn't think so. I also thought it was my age of 53 "years experience," but doctors didn't think so.) so Nov. 1st, I began trying to lose on my own. My daughter introduced me to this site the end of January and she and my son have been my main encouragers along the way, even though they live out of the home. My husband is trying to tackle quitting smoking while I am breaking my food habit. Our son used to play college football and our daughter is currently playing college D1 basketball, so many road trips have taken us to eating out, but I am learning I can still do this.

I am excited I started this weight loss road earlier because when spring hits, I will feel so much better and even more energized to get outdoors and walk and GOOOOOOOO!

Keep your shine because you have bright success ahead!
