It seems no matter how hard i try i can only drop 1lb per week... ive been trying lately to lose 2lbs a week and its just not happening. I am happy that im still losing just wished i could get it to come off a little faster, any suggestions.... my diaries are public if anyone wants to look and give some advice and i always over estimate what i eat just to be on the safe side. I do cheat a little on the weekends sometimes but even then i try not to do too bad and i workout most every day. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe i think im doing good and im not, idk just ready to see my 130's!!!! :grumble:

You look wonderful! However, I am sure that is not going to cure your frustration because I know it wouldn't cure mine. :>

A couple of things stood out to me when I read your post. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring up your eating journals to answer some of these questions.

When you say you are overestimating on calories, could you be eating too little? Also, your body really starts to burn calories when you are eating more frequently. I had hit a wall until I switched to eating 5 smaller meals a day with no more than 300 calories. It jump started my metabolism again.

If you are working out every day, the water you are retaining while rebuilding muscle may be why the scale isn't moving. However, the fat is being replaced by muscle so that is a really good thing.

Last but not least, I am a big believer in the mind and body connection. If you are stressed out about this, then it will hamper your ability to lose weight. I would like to pass on the advice I got from my doctor: "Just focus on being the healthiest person you can be and the weight will come off."

Good luck! You are doing a wonderful job!

  • You are at a plateau. Eventually you will stop losing altogether and plateau. I am not sure what exercise routine you are doing but change it up. Don't allow your body to know what you plan to do for exercise from one day until the next. Keep it guessing. I leave approximately 40 to 150 calories unused each day, but eat where I am never hungry. I eat 5 to 6 small meals or snacks a day. Whatever you do don't let the stresses of life get to you. Your body does not handle stress very well. I am the stress queen and I am now learning how to let things roll off, especially the things that I cannot change today or tomorrow (example debt). Life is too short to worry. My body is starting to react. I have lost 8.5 - 9.0 pounds. I was unable to lose weight for 10 years no matter how much exercise or what I ate so stress was the issue. Life is great! Keep your head up high and be proud. You deserve it.

Okay, if you're doing p90x, I think you should be eating more calories. P90x is INTENSE. If you don't give your body enough fuel, it will hold onto what it can.

Also, you say you want to see the 130s, meaning you are in the 140s, right? If you're in the last 10 pounds or so, you should not be losing more than 1 pounds a week (I know you probably don't want to hear that).

Also, make sure you are eating the right kinds of food and drinking lots of water. And now, you should be focusing on the inches instead of the pounds.

Overestimating what you eat, is not a good thing, because by overestimating, you are more likely taking in way less calories than your body needs

You need to enter your information accurately so you can see for certain, if you are undereating or not

Also, based on your photo, doesnt seem you have far to go, so the weight usually slows down when you are closer to your goal....plus you are doing P90x which is mainly reistance training, so you build muscles, hence the reason the scale may not be going down as fast as you want, because muscle weighs more than fat.....so you probably need to take your measurements

Also, you say your totals come to 1300-1500...so if you are overestimating, you are probably only taking in 900-1100 calories

Also, with P90x because of the intensity, they suggest you eat alot more calories than what you are taking in

    Goodluck

    Hi Gigi!!!

Ok, I took a look through your food journals for roughly a week or so. I do think it looks like you are eating an appropriate amount of calories. That being said, it also appears that you are eating a high volume of processed foods, restaurant foods, and high sodium foods. It has been my experience that I lose weight faster and more effectively when I am eating pretty clean and my calories are all coming from high quality sources. While 100 calories is 100 calories no matter how you slice it, I feel that your body will run more efficiently when those calories come from lean protein or complex carbs, versus simple carbs. Likewise, all of the sodium in those processed foods is going to make your body hold onto water weight, which will affect what you see on the scale.

Not that I am not guilty of doing these things myself! Just saying that I see better results when I don't! Try doing a week of clean eating, and see if it makes a difference for you!

I try to be pretty accurate but when we eat out i try to over estimate because i have no idea what they put in the food, here at home i think im pretty close because i know what i put in the food... i think i still have a good 15-20lbs to lose, and i know you are right about the measurements i take those too and it does go down every week, i was just wondering if maybe i could do anything that might help me lose 2lbs a week, i want to reach my goal before summer ends.... my goal is 125lbs..... Thanks for the advice and i will try to be as right on about the calories as i can, its just hard when you eat out or at a friends house cause you really dont know what you are eating!!!

LOL, oh and on more thing on overestimating...

I know that sometimes I can't measure, or forget. It's been my experience though, when I think I am overestimating, that I am usually actually on target. I've read that when we estimate our food, we tend to be 20-40% UNDER! I will eyeball what I think is on my plate before I weigh it, just to see how close I am. Even after 6 months of weighing and measuring, I am still often under with my estimate. :)

oh i drink lots of water around 100-120oz a day!!! another thing that really bothers me is that my body fat has only went from 38% and now it 31% it seems to me that it should be less.... but idk, i have a big chest so i wonder if that has something to do with it!!!
