I've been looking at the various body fat percentage calculators on the Fat 2 Fit website and was wondering which is considered to be the most accurate? I've plugged my info into the Military and the Original calculators and have come out with two different readings. The former comes out at 21.2% and the latter at 25.6%.

Thanks

I have no idea. They're all just based on averages so they're not going to be very accurate. The first time I had my BF tested (via Bod Pod), the online estimators came up with anywhere from 27% to 44%, with the majority being around 44%. Actual was 39.2%.

I had it tested again a couple weeks ago. Estimates ranged from 24% to 39%. Actual was 34%.

Yup - I guess you are right. I'm inclined to think the higher number is probably closer to the reality. 21.2% seems awfully low.......

    Thanks for the reply!

It certainly was closer to the higher one for me. But that was NOT surprising. 27% when I was obese was laughable.

I believe it also depends on your height. I'm 5'3" and a HALF! (don't forget the half! Lol) Mine says (I think) 18% to 26%. I'm thinking my goal is around 21-23%. Still want to have a 'lil meat on the bones.

Doesn't matter which one is most accurate, what matters is the numbers go down. So pick on and stick to it.

Yes, I appreciate that, I was just curious really.

Interesting. I generally use a scale but think the Military formula yielded the higher result.

I would probably use the calculator that gave the higher estimate, unless you know that the other one is more accurate, say, after a body scan.
