Metabolism help!

Soo Is it really that dangerous to not eat 1200 calories? I always give myself an excuse that I'm not eating enough calories and then before I know it, I'll already be above my calorie goal. So my question is: does my metabolism really slow down that much when I don't eat 1200 calories?

It's not immediately a metabolism thing, but it does deprive your body of nutrients and you'll be starving it rather than fat cells. Eating below your BMR (and 1200 is definitely below it) is unhealthy unless for a specific, doctor recommended reason (surgery, etc).0
