Wow have I got feelings coming up. Any of ya miss your crutch, food calms me so, no wonder people go back to eating. What do you do other than exercise to calm you. No not drinking or drugs. Maybe I need a hobby to relax me

Try to think of all the things that could possibly be upsetting you-a mental or physical list. Ask yourself which you have control over and which you don't. Think of ways you can improve the situations you have control over. Do your best to come to terms (at least for right now) over the things that you don't have control over.
Hope you feel better.0 -
Yes I really missed my crunch. I started to snack on Magic Pops made at krogers They make them there in the store. I really like the onion flavor. Each pop is pretty big and only 18 calories. I sometimes use it in plave of bread for things like tuna fish. Yummy good0

Maybe it's too close to food for you, but I turn to hot tea for comfort.0

thanks, yep, going to my best friends husbands funeral. I feel sad and sad one of my insensitive friends dont want to go. Somethting I cant change, might as well find something good like you said to dwell on and chewing the heck out of gum! lol0

I like to play computer or video games, ones that require just enough of my concentration that I can't worry about anything else, but aren't so difficult that I'm all wound-up playing them. I consider it to be "turning my brain off" for a while. Reading a good book can also be very relaxing. I've thought about taking up knitting or crochet...then I can have a relaxing activity and have something to show for it, too! I mean, I suppose fatness from food calming is "something to show for it" too, but not the right kind. lol0

Walking somewhere nice can help. Hope you feel better soon.0

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Maybe chamomile tea or valerian root? Hope you feel better0

writing in a journal, music and watching a good movie0

something that helps me (besides hot tea) is thinking over my day and going over the things I'm thankful for (that happened during the day). It takes me to a much better place in my mind.0

Honestly, the best thing you can do is identify your true feelings, give yourself permission to feel them, and allow yourself the time to process them. As a modern society, we have become unable to deal with our feelings, and are constantly looking for ways to avoid them. It seems like we are constantly seeking "something" to keep us from being present with ourselves.
You will not be destroyed by your emotions. Acknowledge them, deal with them appropriately, express them to others if necessary, and act on them in a productive way. If you feel badly for your best friend, do something to help her. If you are angry at your other friend, express it to her.
It is harder than it sounds, but it is the best way to tackle emotional eating.0 -

I have an insensitive friend, fact. I have had to get out of denial. She has always been distant, she chooses to be that way. So I will have her as a distant friend, not jumping when she emails me, I will put my energies into my good friends.
Had to get out of denial. Yep, food kept me in denial. Lose your crutch and you deal, painful but we will get thru this to a better life. Whew I don't want to be an emotional eater. We come out the other side,do not need food for emotions, yea. Thanks for the replies.0 -
