Under my calories but over in protein and sugar?!

It seems that I struggle everyday to meet 1200 calories, even more so because I ALWAYS go over in protein and sugar. However, most of the sugar comes from fruit, and I feel like I will burn out if I eat any less protein. Any suggestions for getting in more calories?

Over on protein is a good thing, as MFPs daily protein goal is notoriously low anyway. And if the sugar is mostly from fruit, I wouldn't worry about it.

But how do you need to lose weight if you struggle to eat 1200 calories a day? Just curious - that statement always baffles me.

Add healthy, small portion, 100-200 calorie foods like nuts, organic dried fruits, cottage cheese, yogurt and turkey jerky. They are small portions so you don't feel l like your pigging out but they add a few calories to the mix.

Protein number should be a minimum, and if you're using MFP's protein goal it's ludicrously low anyway.

Don't worry much about sugar. Just make sure you're getting enough veggies and fiber. Sugary foods tend to displace those.

I started off eating about 1700 calories a week and over time I decreased and decreased, and I guess I've just adapted to eating so few calories because it's not like I'm ever hungry in between meals, and if I do hit 1200, I've done it by forcing myself to eat when I don't really want to:/ I've been losing about 2 pounds a week, but I know I need to increase my calories a lot to do this in a more healthy manner!

This happens to me a lot to! If the sugar is from fruit and healthy choices dont worry to much about it and if your protein is over that's a good thing. I'm at 1200 calories as well, its strange when you switched from processed packaged junk food to natural, its amazing to see how little calories it adds up to. maybe pick stuff with a higher calorie count like nuts.

Im so sorry your getting such bad advice here.

Without looking at your diary I can tell you you should increase your Protein Intake.
You can change your settings to something like 40 Carbs, 30 Fat and 30 Protein.
I suggest, if you can afford it investing in some Muscle Milk, This has many cals. and can be used for meal suppliments
Its very important to be eating the min 1200 cals
Eggs, PB, Whole Grain Rice, Any Special Bars are great for added cals, Fiber Plus Bars
Low Fat Cheeses, X-Treme wellness Tortilla wraps, Rice cakes, Any Veggie, Protein Bars, Almond Milk.
If you want to check my diary feel free, There's lots of great ideas.
I don't know what your personal goals are, but you need to be getting at least 1200 minimum.
