New to MFP and in need of guidance

Hiya, I'm obviously new here and new to everything dieting in general. I never really watched my weight or tried to lose it or anything like that. I've recently got some motivation to do so because I'm determined to lead a healthier lifestyle. Being healthy is sure to give me different and new opportunities. Right now I'm just experimenting with actually watching my calories and exercising daily. I'm trying out what folks call the "3 Day Military Diet" and I've heard several comments about it, both negative and positive. I guess I'm looking for some people who have been really successful in losing weight and keeping it off and have any tips for me, and can help me be even more motivated. Thanks :D

Calorie counting is the best way to lose weight. I've lost 36lb over last 7 months, average of 5lb per month. I put 5lb on over Christmas and new year, but because I went back to calorie counting, it soon came back off.
I am not losing weight quickly, but slowly is the best way to do it. Increase your exercise, even if this is walking to or around the shops, these calories still count! I've not found I've been left with any loose skin, even though I've lost a hefty chunk of weight, but I believe it is the slow approach which is responsible for that!
    Good luck

That's awesome, thank very much for the advice (: Hopefully I will manage to have enough control to calorie count every day and not skip a couple or something haha, I want to be well disciplined.
