Got a question...

On MFP I read somewhere...if I set my calories to what I want to weigh, like I'm maintaining, I will lose weight?! Well, I've only been at it a week and its working! Anybody on here do this? I was 189 and down 187.2...plus when I get to my goal (175) I will be use to maintaining. Just wondering if this has worked for anyone else? Jen

Did you set it to maintaining at a "sedentary" level? If so - and if you are not recording and eating back every calorie burned doing daily activities - you will probably drop some lbs.0

err. sure, why not? Your just using the system in a different way than intended.
its the same as figuring your goal TDEE at and eating at that.0 -
I don't do this personally, but the math is plausible. Over a long enough timeline, it appears that your loss would gradually slow, and then your weight would eventually stabilize at the new level as predicted by your caloric intake.0

There are several methods of how to select your calories, and that is one way. Although you wouldn't need to set to sedentary and not eat back exercise calories as mentioned above. Usually the method of goal weight maintenance provides a relatively small deficit, so it may take a little longer than you expect, but it's not a bad thing (and you won't have to worry about changing calories when you reach goal, you just keep eating the same amount).0

Thanks all...gonna give it a try and will let you know how it works! It wasn't working the other way. I was so hungry?!0
