Calling all weight lifters

Making a schedule for my "weight lifting" days of exercises I want to include in my full body workouts. My question is what is the ONE exercise that you do every time you lift weights? Okay if you have a few or even several you can not live with out list them as well. Thanks!!!

If you are going to do 3 days per week with a day between, I would say get 2-3 sets of barbbell squats in each time.

    Barbell Back Squats
  • I always do some chest press or incline chest press. and also shoulder raises. I have very small upper muscles so I favor upper body exercises.

I only work each bodypart once a week, so I guess my answer would technically be "none".

But on leg days I almost always do some type of squat, lunge, deadlift and leg press.
Back day, I always do chin-ups and barbell rows.
Chest day, always DB Press and push-ups and flyes (I don't bench right now because of a shoulder injury)
Shoulder day, always some kind of overhead press, lateral raise, and upright row
Biceps, barbell curls and DB curls
Triceps, Seated overhead extensions and Skullcrushers...

Those are my favorites, but I always mix it up...I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't do the same thing every time I walk in the gym...not popular on MFP, but it's worked pretty good for me.

Best wishes with your new program!!

SQUATS!!! And straight-legged deadlifts!! Those two right there will transform your lower half like nothing else!!!

For upper body, lateral raises, rows, chest presses and chest flies!

For triceps, try the triangle push-up!!

You always want to include compound lifts (not necessary all of these in every workout) Examples are:

    Barbell Squats
    Deadlifts
    Overhead Press
    Chest Press
    Barbell Row
    Pullups/Chinups

I would say build a program around squats, deadlift, barbell bench press, overhead press...

I do a split type work out...but every week I always do barbell bench press, deadlift, and barbell squats...

    Hand washing. After squats, obviously.
  • Squats, bench press, and dead lifts all incorporate nearly the entire body and are considered the most well rounded lifting exercise. You can do these multiple times a week but I would stick to heavy only once a week with the a focus or repetitions the other two days.

Personally I believe in not doing the same thing too consistently so that the muscles stay "confused".

"ONE exercise that you do every time you lift weights" ---- Stretch. I don't do anything else every time.

Back squats - always, even if it's for warm up. They're an all over workout and I LOVE them!
