Resisting Temptation...

It's snack day at work....the first since I started changing my life almost 2 months ago. It's my first major test. I've withstood the challenge thus far. I did partake in one chip with cheese dip (17 calories...I DID put it in my diary!!)...nothing else bad.
I brought two desserts that I made from the Hungry Girl 200 Recipes under 200 calories book and thankfully someone else brought fruit! Safe!
Hoping to make this a success story. Only 3 hours of temptation left!

O geez! lol!
Your doing a great job resisting so far! Don't give in! Just try to avoid the areas in which the snacks are available!
This has happened to me a few times so far. One day it was cupcakes, another it was pizza (sad to say, I gave in, but only had one slice!) and last weekend I came downstairs inthe morning to workout and found a box of fresh donuts on the counter. GAH! I'm glad to say I did not have a donut and went out and worked out for an hour instead!
Keep it up!! What works for me, is when I am seriously tempted, I think of me being at least 300 lbs heavier than I already am. It usually works.0 -
Hahahaha. Yes +300 pounds is a very effective visual. I'll keep that in mind.0

I face this challenge every Friday. Management brings in chips, cakes and goodies but no fresh fruit or anything healthy.
My biggest erk with the situation is that there is a girl at work that will all day long continue to try to push food toward me. And when I say I don't want any she just goes on and on about how she wouldn't be able to live on the calories I eat and why not just have some and when I continue to say no she will go off laughing toward the food and then walk by me holding it up as if that is a temptation for me.
Of course this girl is VERY skinny. :grumble:
Anyway.. I always make sure that I bring healthy snacks with me to work on Fridays so that while everybody else is munching away on crud I know I still have something to eat.
Good job resisting the temptation!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Same here. People keep bringing in this junk food, and I just have to remind myself that is the kind of garbage that got me here in the first place - miserable & unhealthy. I guess the old adage of "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" is a good mantra to repeat at those times. Might sound weird, but I also like to post unflattering pictures of myself in the current state I am in on my desktop to keep me motivated & remember what I don't want to stay at. I hate the way i look right now & can't wait to shed the weight!0

Today was PIZZA day at my office- i think i did good because i only took one good size piece and ate just the toppings, it was just enough to satisfy the craving and without the dough didnt take all my calories!! I tried to say no to it all together but the temptation was to much. ugh0
-
Well, I resisted the temptation, but the funny thing is that I was still thinking about that cheese dip a few hours later! I'm still so glad that I didn't give in...but I just can't believe I did it.
Work snack day = torture!
I hate it when it feels like the food has some kind of control over my brain! Hahaha. But, I guess it should get easier, right?0 -
I here you. Am watching TV now my hubbys eating a family bar of chocolate my daughters eating sweets & chocs and to keep me from temptation of got a packet of sugar free chewing gum ha ha It works for me. I just chew chew chew and do some sit ups or get busy cleaning or siomething. By the time am done the sweets are eaten.0

The workplace can be so difficult when you're trying to eat healthy. When I worked full time, we were always have potlucks for any reason and there was always a ton of food "leftover" for the next shift (I did shift work).
The more you resist temptation the easier it will get. When you are tempted remind yourself why your doing this, that's what I do!
Good job on your work snack day!0 -

:flowerforyou: Congratulations:flowerforyou: You did great!
I don't know why the workplace has to be a place to eat. At our company we have b-day parties once a month and sometimes we just have a dinner for no reason at all. Very few of us there are at a healthy weight. Its really tough not to eat with everyone else when theres all that good food and deserts right there in your face! On these days I've started taking my favorite Healthy Choice meal with me and I eat it. Love the fruit idea. I'm taking some next time.0 -
The best part was, the fruit went over the best! We all devoured it! Kiwi, blackberries, strawberries, cantaloupe, grapes...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I had my turkey sandwich (instead of part of the Chili's Party Platter of DOOM) and a huge serving of fruit...all only 100-150 calories. So much better than the greasy stuff....or at least I'm going to keep telling myself that.0

That girl needs a smack in the mouth
Don't worry though, she'll be laughing on the other side of her face when you are super-healthy and she is a sitting bag of junk! :drinker:0 -

Hi.
Guess what People are really funny. The slim people always seem to say why are you on a diet you look fine one cake won't hurt. Funny thing though I recieved 2 compliments this week both saying you have lost weight you look amazing. From people at work but the slim one who keeps trying to give me food went passed me today and looked me up and down when she went past I remember looking down at myself for a brief second thinking that I had something on my dress but thinking about it now I think she has notice my weight loss and for some reason isn't to pleased abou it. People are strange sometimes. Has anyone else been in a situation like that before?0 -
Unfortunately, some people find it makes them feel better about themselves when they put others down.
I find it's best to avoid those people!!0 -
Hi
yes true best to avoid green eyed monsters. Anyway my weight has not moved this week. I think my body is getting used to my food intake so will have to step up the exercise. Started to do 100 situps every morning to see if this will make a difference. Any surgestions out there? I don't have much time in the week as am off to work each day.0 -
As I sit here reading this and think how great you are for resisting.....someone just walked in with a carrot cake and put it on the table outside my office......think I'll shut the door!!! LOL0
