Trouble not going over my daily sugar...

I just started here last week so I may be too early to see much of a difference, but I am needing motivation!
I can only have 24 g of sugars a day, and one apple has 16 g! I am having trouble eating the fruits and veggies that I should be without going over my sugar limit - help!?
I find my diet is still pretty unhealthy even though I am staying within the limits (except the sugar) that myfitness has set for me.
I would love some suggestions from others on how to get your fruits and veggies in!
Thanks so much
Oh I guess I should mention that I have cut out fast food and colas. I mainly drink water or crystal light with soda water.

I've been having a similar issue, but I came to terms with it recently.
Fruit is good food! We should be eating it!
The way I see it, fruit sugar is good sugar. It's natural, not processed, and your body knows what to do with it.
My thing is to go for it! I love fruit, and it's healthy. I'd much rather get in my daily dose and go over my sugar than worry about it.
Plus! It's a great substitute for sweets. Freeze some grapes and munch on them rather than ice cream. Or freeze bananas and mash those up in place of ice cream (super tasty!). If you want something sweet, I find many times that fruit and a few minutes curbs it better than anything else.
Hope this helps lovely.0 -
I am confused. Who said you can only have 24 g of sugar a day? Are you doing Atkins? Or did a doctor tell you to do this?
If not, you should limit refined sugar but your natural sugar (fruits & veggies) can be up to 100g. I think refined sugar should be 24 g or less. Bread and crackers should be counted as a refined sugar even though the package doesn't indicate that. It has to do with the way it processes in your body. I am not sure what it counts as but my rule of thumb is 'one serving of bread, breading, crackers' a day. No more, sometimes less.0 -

When I crave ice cream, I make a smoothie out of a variety of frozen fruits and then add some vanilla protein powder. Afterward, you won't still crave the ice cream.0
