Spring Yoga Challenge

Hi everyone!

I loooove yoga and it's really my only means of exercise right now. I want to create a group challenge where the main exercise is YOGA. I go to a local studio where I can take classes 7 days a week any day I want. I know there must be others out there like me!

Basically, all I would ask for is this:

- Commit to going to three (3) yoga classes per week. My classes are an hour long, but yours don't need to be.
- Commit to taking one other day per week to do any other excersize of your choice: mine will be power walking. My work has beautiful scenery and excellent space for walkers on sidewalks.
- Commit to making healthy choices and staying as close to your daily calorie goal as possible.
- Weigh in on Monday's and check in with the group at least once per week, but hopefully more often than that!

I want it to be a place where we can talk about anything. Successes, failures, yoga, life in general, anything at all. Yoga is a huge part of my life and I'd love to connect with other people who are the same.

Let me know if you're interested and I'll start a group!

I don't really understand yoga..I tried pilates once but yoga seems more gentle? It doesn't seem like the sort of exercise to leave you gasping for breath but everyone gets super thin on it! There aren't any classes in my area but im tempted to try the dvds...any you would recommend?

Yoga is really, truly amazing. Not only is it an excellent cardio workout depending on the type of yoga that you do, but it's also amazing for your muscles and joints. Keeps you open and flexible to prevent injuries, strengthens and tones, it's just a great total body workout. I would recommend Ashtanga yoga, personally. It's fast paced and can be hard to keep up with, and definitely challenging. For a beginner, you could also try Hatha yoga, which is less fast paced and easier to handle, especially if you aren't familiar with sun salutations and different asanas.

I don't have a recommendation for any DVD's, but try youtube! It seems that the BeFit channel has great videos, though I can't say that for myself since I've never looked. I would highly recommend getting into it. It brings peace to the mind in addition to the body.

There is a yoga group you could join or find others interested in joining your challenge.

I already do yoga 6x a week, but I'm always looking for more yoga friends.
