...and you're currently doing ??? at the gym....

Personally, I run (treadmill and/or the track, do the elliptical, bike (spin classes or use the bike in the main part of the gym), use weight machines and free weights,...ALL with the accompaniment of good music on the iPod. The best way to keep yourself interested is to keep mixing things up. I'm in Michigan, so I have to wait for better weather to bike, walk, rollerblade or run outdoors for the most part.

When I have particular goals in mind, I find working out more interesting. Current goal is to participate in a biathlon.

If you have access to a good gym, I would check out Jamie Eason's LiveFit Program at Bodybuilding.com. It's free, it wiil get you toned and you can do like me, customize it to your needs. I replaced some of the exercises and still do cardio when I want.

    Here's what works for me:

I get bored and lose motivation easily, so I started a gym "reward system". I have a smartphone and I downloaded Netflix to it. I began watching a tv series that I hadn't seen before (currently, it's "30 Rock") that I LOVE to watch, but I only allow myself to watch it at the gym. Today, I stayed and worked out for nearly an hour and a half because I was so wrapped up in watching my show that I didn't want to stop working out. Some people use books on tape, also. To find out what happens next in your book/tv series, you have to go to the gym and work out. Also, for every 10 hours I spend at the gym, I get myself a little reward that is NOT food related (i.e. a pair of earrings, a deposit into my vacation savings fund, etc).

    I get bored too.
I found that using videos and apps helps. I download apps on my phone. For treadmill and floor exercises.

If I'm being lazy I listen to an audio book on the elliptical, stair machine or treadmill.

I try to maintain a schedule to keep me looking forward to something.
ex - Mon: cardio, tues: legs workout, wed: jogging thur: strength training, etc etc.
  • Fit and toned doesn't mean but so much. Try things like: get stronger. build muscle. lose fat. increase muscle endurance. increase cardio endurance. increase flexibility.
