It helped my skin. Are you cleansing directly after a workout? Try washing your face with warm water and a mild face soap as soon as possible after a workout!

This. If you're sweating, you need to wash your face, as excess sweat and oils clog your pores and cause breakouts.

Could be different factors. I blame hormones.

What kind of protein are you using?

After a workout I get in the shower and rinse my face with water and then I use witch hazel when I get out. I have had this problem since January and just recently I started the Oil Cleanse Method, which I do at night and then witch hazel in the morning.

If you did it probably would be due to some food you added into your diet. Dairy gives me acne.

I don't think it's common, but some people have idiosyncratic reactions. If you have acne, the oil method may not be for you. It may block your pores. The witch hazel might be drying it out. If you can, see a dermatologist.

If diet is suspected, the usual approach is to eliminate one food at a time for say, three weeks and see if there's an improvement.

I use a supplement called "Biotin" that you can purchase at any drug store, grocery store, Walmart, etc. I take it religiously and it keeps my skin clear. I could always tell when I had forgotten to take it for a few days. It has made a difference for me and it isn't expensive. Good luck!

Yes, I started getting acne last year when I started lifting and eating more protein. I had to start washing my face 3 times a day. It's calmed down now, so it might have just been because I was sweating more.

I've heard both Soy and Whey can trigger acne. Do you drink either of those?

Dairy does it for me. I notice it when I increase my milk and whey intake. Milk is the worst. Whey I start to notice it if I take more than about 100g/day for more than a few days.
Try a body wash with benzoyl peroxide in it. It keeps it under control for me.

My protein shake is 100% whey protein. That is truly the only thing in my diet that has changed. I eat an assortment of things and have plenty of dairy but the protein shake is the only thing I have added to my diet that is not a normal thing for me.

Stop the whey protein and see if it makes a difference. I am not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere that whey can affect testosterone levels and that can trigger acne. You might want to google that because I don't know how true it is, but in any case, I'd stop the whey.

unlikely due to protein but the sweat that you're producing and the toxins leaving your body and coming out through your skin. it's VERY NORMAL for acne to occur during the initial stages of fitness. continue to wash your face immediately after a workout and never use the same (sweat) towel twice. drink plenty of water throughout the day and during your workout to flush out all the toxins. it'll pass in a couple of weeks.

thank you for the reply. It has been going on since january though. I was thinking the same thing, just a purge with the sweating, but it hasnt stopped. I am going to search about whey protein.
