I was at the waterpark today for a HOA night. I had lost weight from 314 down to now right at 272, so I wasnt wearing a shirt I am starting to feel comfortable not wearing a shirt, I was riding all the rides which the weight limit was 300. I go back to ride a slide I had already went down and the guy at the top said I am over the weight limit, which was a hand written paper sign that said the weight limit went down to 250. He made me turn around and walk back down the stairs and do the "Walk of Shame". I was very upset and it almost ruined my night. I sent a online comment letter to the waterpark saying if you are going to change the weight limit dont have signs still with the old weight on it.
Oh well I am going back to the gym tomorrow to continue my weight loss.
Oh and walking around and climbing stairs at the waterpark is a workout )

I am sorry that happened to you :brokenheart: ...
You have a very positive approach and I think you did the RIGHT thing by sending a complaint. I probably would have been a lot more verbal about it. I am glad you had a good time up until that point!!! Don't let that experience hinder any future experiences. You rock on with your self and be proud of your accomplishments!!!0 -
That sucks! I'm not one for boycotting, because innocent people get hurt, but if you're willing to email me the park name, I'll get the right contact information and we can put some pressure on so that crap doesn't happen again. Good for you for not letting them dissuade you.0

Silly Kiri, jrich is a man....heehee. Was hoping a woman wouldn't be going down the slide with her top off! I'm just teasing, don't mean to embarrass anyone. I'm sorry that this happened to you. I went to worlds of fun last summer, and could barely squeeze my rear end into one of the seats of the ride. It was so embarrassing that I had to sit sideways just to get the darn bar to go down! I'm proud of your weight loss and keep continuing the awesome work. I wish my husband had the determination that you do. Good luck!0

I will just post it here, its Hawaiian Falls here in The Colony. I am all for if there is a weight limit, but they had the hand written sign right next to the regular sign which I showed the guy.

Its okay ...i went up there and saw the little paper at the bottom of the stairs and was worried they would tell me to go back down , but they didn't...at the top it said 300 so i agree they should make sure it clearly says everywhere,
YOu had fun the whole night every other thing you were doing, don't let this ruin it for you we all had fun...just think next time we go youw ill be under 250 and you will show them !!!!!!0 -

That sucks, but it sounds like you are a very supportive team. Congrats on the loss! Just think of it this way, at least you got exercise walking up the stairs.0

That is crazy, how can they let you down one minute then change the weight the next, thats bs! And ummm how the heck did he have any idea on how much you weigh, for real now, we all carry our weight different and your only 22lbs heavier, so really there was no way of him knowing for sure! I can't believe you had to walk back down, I would have been choked! Good for you for keeping your head up, you have come a long way!0

I am bumping this, I got an email reply/apology from the waterpark!! Excerpt below
"I have forwarded your email on to management for review.
Please accept our apologies for the confusion and embarrassment you experienced while trying to ride The Torpedo. Since this ride is the first of its kind in the world, the manufacturer's original weight limit restriction has proven to need adjustment after continued testing on the ride. We originally had our signs made up with their first release of 300 lbs. only to find out that it could be a safety hazzard for people at that limit as they could slide too far at the bottom and could be hurt by going off the end of the water runway. We have made attempts to adjust and change the weight limit manually on the signs at the bottom and top of the attraction until we got the final word from the manufacturer on what weight limit will be safe for riders. I am told they are now enforcing the limit to ride safely at 250 lbs.
New signs have already been ordered for all three waterparks and will be mounted up as soon as possible so there is no more confusion. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for bringing this to our attention. The safety of our guests is our number one priority and I feel sure that our ride attendant/lifeguard was simply trying to enforce the restriction as required. If you remember the names or description of either lifeguard, please let me know. Management will follow up with our water safety team on the correct procedures for following and enforcing these safety rules in a kind and respectful manner. "0
