I wanna try it all!

I was into running in high school. I want to get back into it. I hired a personal trainer last semester who had me doing circuit training. I didn't lose weight, but I felt stronger and had more energy. I think the sexiest women alive do kickboxing, and I totally want to look like that. I'm intrigued by all of the heavy lifting suggestions (although terrified of the weight room). I want to try swimming some time when the weather warms up and I feel better in a swimsuit. There are so many options, but I certainly don't have time or energy for them all. What shall I try first?

Note: please don't say zumba. I did try it. It's not for me. Sticking my finger into a pencil sharpener sounds like more fun to me.

  • I'm kind of in the same position, I started strength training one year ago and recently stopped to do more cardiovascular stuff. I'd also like to re-start krav maga which is very draining, very much like an hour-long HIIT session three days/week. Not sure which way to go or how to do all of them at the same time.

Get a trainer to help you with the weight room for strength training. I started without one and eventually injured my lower-back when squatting heavy weights. A trainer will show you the right way vs trying to figure it all out from videos which obviously I didn't really get. You'll probably like it once you get going, typically you increase the weights each session so you are always pushing it. And until you are lifting heavy weights, no one will really be paying attention to what you are doing. Kickboxing or boxing in general is a very good conditioning sport, look into schools in your area and most of them will let you try a class for free.

I don't know anything about swimming, that's one of the last cardio activities I have left to really look into but it does use your total body.
