Help!!! I can't use the elliptical!!!

I had never used an elliptical before, and the other day at the gym, I gave it a try. I lasted maybe 3 minutes. The muscles in my thighs were burning so badly, I couldn't take it. So I tried it again today, and the same thing happened. I really want to use the elliptical because I think it will be a much better workout than the treadmill. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    try changing the resistance, it might be on a high level and your muscles are getting tired by pushing against it. I think you should keep going at it and little by little you be able to stay on for longer and longer! Push yourself!

    Don't worry, I was terrible at the elliptical at first. It does take some getting used to. See if you can do 5 minutes next time, then 7 minutes, and so on. You'll be doing great in no time.
