Long Winter

So has this long drawn out winter affected you or your workouts? It has mine. I had been doing really good but with every week of continued cold temps and more snow forecasted, I just lack the motivation to put in the effort for the daily workout. I am still watching what I eat but have noticed I am slipping again on logging food and completing entries.
Sooner or later, this weather trend has got to change, I just hope I can get back into a positive mind set and back to my workout ways before that day and before I've given back all that I have lost.
How is everyone else coping?

Winter is difficult for me, too. I do indoor workouts, mostly Youtube Pilates. The gym equipment I use is my apartment's, so I don't have to leave the building for. I hear ya.0

I check the weather. I dress for it. I tie my running shoes.
Some days it sucks. But once you get a few really bad days under your belt, it becomes, "Heck, this is nowhere near as bad as that 7-miler in ankle-deep slush!" or "Pfft! No -29F windchill today!"
If you usually go to the gym instead, you have my permission to point and laugh at me as you're driving there, and say, "Ha! I had to get dressed, leave the house, and warm up my car, but at least I don't have to do THAT!"0 -
It has, but in a good way. I only wish it was a longer and colder Winter here in the southeast. I am sick from seasonal and pollution allergies 9 months of the year. Getting a few more cold days is great, going to the gym to take advantage of it shortly!
Also, I really have to move. Though I admit I don't look forward to the shoveling snow part, even if it is good exercise.0 -
With this loooong Winter I am growing tired of my treadmill. It is a kind of love/hate relationship really. Love that I have it here in my living room, hate that I have to use it instead of running around outside in the warm sun. My only ray of hope right now is that my seed order just came in and I know that if I keep trucking on with the treadmill and weights that sooner or later I will be in my giant garden soaking up the sun. Oh, I miss my pool too!!! We are on the home stretch as far as Winter goes.....so just hand in there. I know I am feeling like a amazing Spring hike right now.0

I'm bored with my winter clothes - I want to wear my fat sumer clothes before I get too thin for them( as if!) so i can decide whether to alter or pass them on when I reach my target.
Its going to be 4 degrees (C) here at the weekend - stupid cold for the time of year, so no walks. I'll do extra workouts from the DVDs instead.0 -
Yes, it's definitely cut into my outdoor walking. I walk when I can but not when there's snow and ice which is a regular feature of winter in New England. But it helps getting out everyday even for a few minutes. Sunshine and fresh air are huge.
I go to the gym more in the winter, but it's not the same thing. I belong outside.
And though it's a bit hard to believe given the fresh foot of snow we got yesterday, in another month the ground will be bare and the walks will resume. In a sense the winter hiatus makes me appreciate the 9 months I can walk even more.0 -
While I have been proud that I have been consistant with my runs even through the snow, slush, ice, -20 or more degree days, etc. I am ready for better weather. During the winter my runs have been shorter and I have not been eating the best (have been able to maintain, but not lose any more)....it was starting to get nice here, but now the snow is back :grumble:0

I wimped out today and went to the gym and did a 5k on the treadmill. Not the same as being outside but ultimately I was glad I at least ran.0
