I just got a new tattoo on Friday (3/15) and I was wondering how long I have to wait, if I have to wait at all, to start exercising again? I gave it a few days and its in the scabbing phase of the healing process.

Depends on area and size of tattoo.
Generally, whenever I get a tattoo, if its on an open area (not covered by clothing), I wait a week and then head back to the gym again for LIGHT workouts (simple walks). Sweating = Ink could come out which = Bad.
If its on a covered area, I would wait until the thing is fully healed. Its not worth having a blotchy or faded tattoo just to get an extra few workouts in.0 -
you're good, go for it0

i have a few tattoos and its not a problem.
my artist told me that sweat is not a problem as it is natural. just be careful that nothing is rubbing on it or you scratch it.
enjoy !0 -

I agree with this ^^ ............... My fella played football the day after the start of a big back piece and when he came home, between the sweat n cloth movement, I noticed bits of ink coming through.......... but like said above if on arm or somewhere frictions not guna be a problem I think you would be good to go back to the gym now its been a week near right ??0 -
I've got several large tattoos.
The ones on my legs, I tried to avoid riding outside to keep from getting dirt and debris in them but were fine at the gym. I was just careful not to let them touch the gym equipment.
The ones on my shoulders were fine on the bike (thanks to the tight fitting jersey) but they were miserable at the gym where my looser workout shirts rubbed against them.
I'd say as long as they are not rubbing or uncomfortable for you, go for it.0 -
I just got a fairly big one on my shoulder, enough that my sports bra would touch it, so I waited about 5 days before heading back. It was scabbed up and dry at that point and it did flake a little on the areas that the bra touched, but it will do that anyway, regardless. It's been a couple weeks now and there's no damage to it or discoloration, so I think you are fine. I know for me, it took about 5 days to not hurt too much that I could actually WEAR the sports bra, so that's why I waited.0
