If THIGHS were your problem area show me your slim down!

I am 5"5 1/2 with a medium frame. I was skinny skinny skinny berfore puberty but ever since I have always been more bottom heavy. I have a barely B cup and weight just dosn't build in my mid section. Add to that the fact that I am just generally more muscular/ solid than fat in my arms, shoulders, back, and abs (people always comment on how buff my upper body looks).

On this forum I often see people who have mid section troubles. I never really see anyone who looks like me= small bust, visible abs in the middle, but with hips, thighs and butt. I have almost decided that I am a freak of nature! I know you can't spot train but seriously that is the only area that I need to shape up. If my waist got smaller I would not complain but I would be even more out of proportion :sad: . Please show me your success photos if you slimmed down your pear shaped bottom half without loosong your middle :happy:

    Lols. These hips and thighs aren't going anywhere! I always lose in the middle first. Pear shaped means you're going to lose last in the hips and thighs, that's how we're built. You can tone 'em up, though and make 'em thinner. I'm finding Bar Method really helps there, along with lots and lots of squats.

    I don't have as small of a natural waist but still my thighs have always been huge. But, realistically I spent my entire childhood and adolescence playing soccer which have definitely contributed to my big, muscular, thighs. I've grown to tolerate them now, except for the inner thigh fat, which I'm working on with strength-training.

    I notice that you say you are a dancer? Many of my dancer friends are tiny with bigger thighs because of how much work and strength dance requires of your lower body.

    If I were you I would start doing deadlifts, squats, weighted lunges, etc to tone your thighs if that's what you are looking for. Feel free to add me as a friend!

  • I'm the same as you! Small upper body, have always had a tiny waist (even when I was 35 pounds heavier than I am now)...but my butt and thighs are not in proportion to the rest of me. And that's where I'll always gain first and lose last. I find that when my weight is about 6-7 pounds below where it is right now is when they start to look a little bit slimmer.

    Nope...there are lots of pears out there and I always thought I was a pear and found out I was actually hour glass....but here is my before and after.

    Hopefully the pictures show that my thighs truly did shrink significantly I can tell you my hips were around 42" and are now 35"

    Honestly, My thighs are the only reason why I want to loose weight. I would be ok with the upper body if my thighs matched but I figure shedding 10 lbs will give me a better overall feeling about my body

    Thanks for posting those... after finding this thread I was like "ughhh my thighssss" and then after looking at the ones you posted I was like "Yes! Thighs!" Feeling a lot more positive now. :)

    Yes I think due to the dancing I have strong leg muscles beneath some pudge :(

    In response to this thread, however... I used to have big jiggly thighs that I despised. Then I started biking every day and that pretty much disappeared. Not saying that they're perfect, but it definitely changed them a lot. I'm fortunate enough to live in a big city where I can commute by bike, which is how I worked it into my life everyday. If you have the option... do it!

    Nope...there are lots of pears out there and I always thought I was a pear and found out I was actually hour glass....but here is my before and after.

    Hopefully the pictures show that my thighs truly did shrink significantly I can tell you my hips were around 42" and are now 35"

    Wow you look amazing. I want yr figure. I'm also 5 ' 2" and managed to get to 116.8 llbs but I don't look like you!! I'm still chunky. You i aspire to look like!

    <<<<< I started off 25 pounds heavier than in that 'before' picture. Yikes. I'm still working on my upper thighs but I'm pretty dang excited to wear some short skirts this summer... finally! I'm 5'2 as well.

    And DON'T get me started on that inner thigh gap that "every woman can have with lots of squates and lunges." I cannot even imagine a life where my thighs to not come together when standing naturally. :sad: !

    ^Haha, you got yourself started! And same... My roommate/best friend just has a natural thigh gap and it makes me so mad! I'm starting to thing my body is just not capable.

    I used to do mostly zumba, some biking some walking and a little stair stepping. About the same tim I added body pump and the couch to 5k program. I am seeing results with my theighs slimming down.

    I can relate. My upper body is slim - small boobs, flat stomach but I have these massive thighs and a behind for days. My thighs and hips are slowly getting smaller though. I can't wait until I have made enough progress to post pics.

    I hold weight in my torso and thighs but I have huge thighs. 24" of thigh, though it's down from 26"s. I know I will never have a thigh gap. I may get some more off but these suckers ain't never gonna be considered 'thin'
