I was thinking Ice Cream, but I wanted to include gelato for my personal favorite.

Mine's got as much to do with time and place as the gelato.
A hot late July afternoon in Rome. Lemon gelato at a street side place near the Colosseum.

So hot and tired, I thought I'd found the best cold treat in the world.

Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream. It has extra fat and it's awesome.

I hate the fake garbage that people are always peddling, like anyone could ever truly improve on real ice cream.

I was about 8 or 9 and I helped my grandpa pack, and turn in all the bottles that had accumulated in his basement over the winter months (he took them back once a year)

the trip to the depot was hot and dusty and I was in the back of the truck with the bottles and my brother....

once we turned the bottles in, he bought each of us a maple walnut ice cream cone. It was so HOT and dusty...that cone tasted like pure heaven and sugar....

I've been looking for that taste since and not once have I found it...

YoGo Crazy Yogurt! Do you have one near you? It's fun, tasty, and a heck of lot healthier than ColdStone.

it was this ginormous piece of chocolate s'mores pie that I think had an ice cream base, fluff (or some sort of marshmallow covering) and a graham cracker crust.

    Oh. My. LORD.

Wall's Vienetta - don't even know if they still make them but I used to LOVE when my Mum would buy one for Sunday lunch when I was younger. Mmm....

Oh and loved the pic of the frozen desert:laugh:

What a great story! Somehow I suspect that you will never find maple walnut as perfect as you remember...

The coconut frozen yogurt at my local Froyo Zone. I top it with slivered almonds, dark chocolate chips and toasted coconut. I am completely addicted. It's a very serious problem.
