Vacationing and Healthy Living

Alrighty, So I am going to TN on vacation for a whole long week...

I would like to enjoy some really delicious bbq while I am down there. For me vacationing has always been about going to eat at lots of really yummy restaurants. I don't really drink all that much so I probably won't be wasting calories on alcohol much. Maybe only one night while I am away.

Does anyone have any tips for staying on track while on vacation. I would like to let myself indulge a bit while I am away, I just don't want to blow it out of the water.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Change your calories to maintain for the vacation. You'll be fine. If you gain, it's likely water weight. And I love bbq. I get smoked turkey and try to keep the sauce amount reasonable. And it's pretty darn good for you too. Skip the bread and sides with lots of mayo. And have fun, it's vacation.

Sightseeing!! Take it all in by foot! Sign up for a walking tour... When the group stops, just keep walking in place.

Each time you think of indulging, just ask yourself "are the calories worth it?" I've found this helps me when I travel. Also, figure out your trigger food. I had to do this in Myrtle Beach this weekend. There was tons of fair foods. My weakness - Funnel Cake. I'd say yes to everything after that if I had just one bite of funnel cake. So. I didn't eat it. I left the fair only eating a crab cake sandwich (and beer - it was St. Patrick's Day).

Have a great time! Can't wait to hear abut your success!

^^^^ This, definitely AVOID the creamy looking sides (potato salad, mac salad, mac & cheese, etc)
