HRM for monitoring calories in strength training?

I'm using a FitBit to monitor my calorie burn for fog about my daily life & a HRM for cardio workouts. I'm quite pleased at how accurate I feel the calorie records are for these 2 activities, which only leaves strength & toning work.

I read somewhere that a HRM is not going to be accurate at recording strength work as it'll over estimate calories, is this true?

How do you record calorie burn for strength work?

    Mostly by estimation.

    You can try using a HRM to get a general idea but you should use the number it gives you as a starting point and add/subtract based on the rate of your gains/losses.

    I did it one month at a time so it was a slow process. If anyone knows of a better way I'm all ears.

    I usually just subtract from what the HRM says by 75 or so calories (depending on the length and intensity of my strength training). That may seem like a lot, but I'd rather under-estimate than over-estimate. :smile:
