I would like everyone out there that believes that eating too few calories will not change your metabolism to please rip me a new butt hole right now and tell me why going on a very low calorie diet for a long period of time will not decrease my metabolism. I have heard this called a myth. Please explain, I am open to hearing your ideas.

Im not a qualified nutritionist...but i can speak from personal experience

I was quite ill for an extensive period of time when i was younger and part of that caused serious damage to my digestive tract meaning that for a long time my calories were waaaaay low, simply because eating was too difficult
Im talking about only around 400 cal a day
After that period, i definitely saw that my metabolism had gone down
Your body adapts because i knows it has to store every bit of energy to survive
So for a while i couldnt eat large amounts or i wuld gain weight very quickly (although for a while i had to) and it took many many month for me to get my body back to the point where a normal intake was tolerated in a more normal way
So yes, i strongly agree that if you restrict calories to extreme conditions for an extensive period of time your body adapts to it

I agree also! I don't know if there's a starvation mode as some people say... but I know that now I can consume more calories and not gain weight now where as when I was eating very little ( less than 1200 calories) a few days of eating 1500 calories would make me gain weight. I think its not safe to eat so little!
