From Cutting to Bulking (whey shakes and bloating?)

So I've been cutting (first time in my whole life I EVER dieted...) and now I'm done. I'm ready to eat an excess of calories and bulk a bit... and after only a week I feel like I've gained back the 18 lbs I lost lol (READ ON)
For the record it's not even physically possible to have gained 1 lb this week, so it's not about that, and my diet is full of healthy chicken and vegetables and only 2 oz a day of 100% whole grain pasta, etc... so believe me I'm good.
But I do feel kinda bloated.
I think it might be the whey shake I have once a day, anyone else have this problem? Is it common, is it just that I'm eating a bit more?

When I was starting a bulk, it was common for me to feel a little bloated and gassy. I wouldn't think its the whey shake, since I drink a couple-few each day. I think it was more to do with the extra food. Your body is dealing with a lot more food than usual, so it's probably going through a process like "where the hell are we going to store this stuff?" Kinda like when someone moves in with you in your small apartment and brings their stuff with them.
If you're feeling bloated for a length of time, then cut back on the bulk a bit, or go intermittently. And if that doesn't work, then maybe a doctor's check-up?
A couple of suggestions. Since you're starting to bulk. Take some measurements so that you can compare to the end of the bulk. Also, remember to train those abs (which is hard when you're bloated, I know). But just because layers of fat are going to cover them doesn't mean they can't be still trained - besides, you'll need them ready for when you cut again.

if you went cold turkey from cut calories to surplus calories, a lot of times you'll make a big jump in water weight simply because surplus cals tend to come from carbs that will allow your body to store more water. Gas and bloat can accompany this as well. Better to gradually increase your intake. It should level out soon.0
