I'm on the last day of the 1st month of insanity.
I have the night off, and my wife wants to go out to eat.
She wants to go to longhorn.. and I always get 6/8 oz renegade, salad, loaded baked potato, and firecracker wraps.. I already checked.. JUST that would make me 24 grams over my fat goal for the day.
I'd rather not go there at all than be tempted to order my favorites. This is way overboard for a cheat day right?

Just over your fat goal? not over the calorie goal?
In my humble opinion -- if you're on point most of the rest of the time, and you're hitting your calorie and MACROS, then... what's the big deal. You have to balance your personal life and your fitness.... I think you'll be ok0 -
Depends, whats the total calories over, salt over, carbs over etc. Its not always just about the fat.
Did you get any exercise today or can you do extra exercise tomorrow to make up for it?
How have you done in the last week for fat? over or under?
Why not cut out the "loaded" on the baked potato? Can you tone the meal down a bit? Its the butter, the sour cream, the rich salad dressing that gives most of the fat. Can you trim that back?
Manage your way through it. Why give in totally to temptation. Compromise!0 -
If this diet is a lifestyle change then put your strength to the test and go out for dinner. Naturally, order something different.0

You will be fine. It is just one time. You should go enjoy dinner with your wife.
And I would say you are doing good if the only thing you would be over in is fat.

Go and enjoy or go and order something else. I often eat as much as 3,000 calories a couple days a month with no ill effects.0

How to cheat:
1) Who are they? Make sure that you keep a distance between your new lover, and yourself. Do not cheat with someone you know, or work with. Instead find a stranger that you can successfully lie to. Personal ads, clubs, and even shopping centers are great ways to meet strangers.
2) Your name is? Never let the other person know your full name. Lets face it, some people are obsessive, and vindictive. You can use your first name if you want, but make up a last name if they ask. Keep up with your new name, be careful not to contradict yourself.
3) Where do you work? I don't care what you do, don't tell them where you work. Your don't need them showing up at your job, because everyone you work with will know. The less people who know your secret, the better off you are. Lets say you have a "sexy" job, that you can use in your favor, such as a law enforcement officer. If you want to tell them in order to improve your chances fine, but make sure you keep it bleak. Don't tell them the department, or city. Instead stick with a county.
4) Can I Call? Buy a disposable pay as you go, no contacts cell phone. You want to make sure there is no records of incoming or outgoing calls to unidentified numbers. And do not pay for this phone with a credit or debit card! Use cash only.
5) Who buys? No matter what you buy, pay cash. You do not want your credit card statement to show certain charges, especially hotel rooms. Call the hotel ahead, and make arrangements to pay in cash. You can use the excuse that interest rates are killing you, if your embarrassed. Better yet, if you can have them put the room in their name, and you can pay them in cash, or split the bill.
6) What all did I buy? Some of us have a habit of keeping receipts. Drop the habit now, or pay the price. You don't want things like wine, hotel rooms, condoms, on a receipt lying in your pants pocket. Trash them when you leave the store.
7) What's that? Make rules and stick to them. Make sure that you don't come home with bruises, bite marks, scratch marks, or God forbid a hickey. If you didn't leave with it, don't come home with it.
8) Where have you been? Make sure you have the time to cheat. Do not do something foolish like call in sick to work. Instead make the time, for example: start taking a karate class twice a week, but tell everyone it's three times a week. Or join a gym. Just make sure that it's not some place super close to home where they can check to see if you are there. And do not stay gone for over two hours at anytime, unless your pulling a seminar, or overnight stunt. Keep in mind if your lover knows people you work with, the topic of the training seminar might come up. And that never works out well for the cheater. Also never leave after you take a phone call. Everyone knows what a booty call is, so don't fall into that trap.
9) I have what? Protection, protection, protection, I can't say it enough. You don't want to bring something home, so protect yourself. The male should always have a condom on, and ladies should be taking some form of birth control. You don't want a baby to be conceived this way, and you don't want to take a disease home.
10) What are you sorry for? Don't confess everything because you had one to many drinks. If your going to do it, then do it. But, be sure that your able to take it to your grave. Show your loved one you love them even if you are a good for nothing cheater. Buy them roses, draw their bath, make them think they are special. It sounds cold, and harsh but it's the life of a player.

Your fat goal should be .35 grams per lb of body weight minimum. I looked at your diary, so if you're heavier than 123 lbs, your fat intake can be higher. I wouldn't stress it.0

If you have a meal like this occasionally it shouldn't be a problem, unless you are prone to turning a cheat meal into a cheat day into a cheat week etc. If you can handle a meal like this 1x a month or less you should be fine.
If you are worried, order your usual but save 1/2 for lunch the next day or trim some of the extras off the meal (dressing on the side for the salad, cut the appetizer if you order one, etc)0 -

Can you eat half of what you order (take the rest home)? Or get the baked potato without butter? Maybe you can modify it a little bit to maximize the fun of eating out and not feel like you totally screwed up your day0

No. Go out with your wife. Enjoy the time together and enjoy the food because you still have to enjoy LIFE... You will get nowhere if you are constantly depriving yourself. I'm not saying you should cheat every day or even every week, but go out and enjoy yourself.0 -
It's not a cheat meal, it's not a special occasion, it's not really anything but life. Unless you plan to never eat out again, go out with your wife, eat what you want, and don't worry about it.
Just yesterday the wife wanted to swing by and try the new Cool Ranch Taco from Taco Bell, I ordered 2 of the new grillers...none of which was on my plan for the day. Ended up getting snacky last night and just stopped logging all together. I know for a fact I blew through 1000 calories over my daily "goal" and I woke up this morning and didn't gain anything.
Don't stress over one meal or even a couple of meals here and there as long as you're keeping on track 90% of the time, you're going to be fine.0 -

I wound up going to chili's instead and getting one of their lighter choices. I did splurge on a few texas cheese fries, but I think I should be good.. time for pure cardio and cardio abs in about 2 hrs.0
