Dancing!

Hi all, New here!.
Was just wondering if anyone else is using dancing for their main source of cardio? My goal is to exercise at least 30 mins every day for the first two months (we'll see if that will happen but that is the plan =p) and to at least do 5 days of dancing (two of those days with strength/weight training) and 2 days of slow days 15 mins on a normal slow paced walk and 15 mins of Turbo Jam.

I'm not however doing it all in one go. I'm breaking it up all day usually with 10 to 15 mins per interval (I tend to go over my goal usually and do 60 mins a day because I love dancing so much lol). So far I've unofficially lost 3.5lbs up until now (weigh in date is Thursday) and I know I've lost inches as my clothes feel looser but I won't know for sure until next week when I remeasure. And I haven't been eating all that great, but still at my calorie goal or 200 under average. Has anyone else have this much success from mostly dancing? I was just going to do it for a month or so but if this keeps going I think I'm going to stick with it until I plateau. I would love to hear if others have experienced good results with this way?

  • Hi i'm not using it as a main form of cardio, but on days I do not feel like going to the gym that is what i do. I love Zumba though for my form of dancing when I don't feel like going to the gym. I totally do not feel like i am working out at all.

    Hi Irish, I totally know what you mean about the not working out part. It's nice isn't it?
    I would rather it be fun then it feeling like work, that's when I tend to not be as diligent.
    Zumba is a lot of fun, haven't tried it recently but I remember how much it made me sweat
    You lose weight and learn to dance, bonus!

    Thank you for reminding me I think I'm going to dig out my old dvd's and do some Zumba a couple of times a week instead of my usual dance. I tend to do club/raving or shuffling, it's fast paced and makes your heart pump like crazy but
    it's nice to change it up with a little salsa or merengue! :happy:
