stationary bike HELP????

I just got a cheap stationary bike and after my first day my legs are incredibly sore (I can barely walk) My concern is that even though I could feel an extreme burn in my legs, it said i was only pedaling 7mph. even when i pedaled as fast as i could it only got up to 10.5 mph. So at 7 mph in one hour of what felt like a good exercise only burned around 180 calories. This just doesn't seem worth it to me. I was really excited about this new work out and I'm just hoping that it's either, I'll get better at this or my bike is a little off. Any advice?
Additionally, the tension is set to low.

Sounds about right. Keep at it and it'll become easier, so long as you rest when required, but for low resistance on a stationary, 200 calories an hour is pretty much the ball park figure.0
