Road ID...anyone have one?

These things are great. They are custom-engraved plates with personalized information for if you're ever out walking, running, biking--whatever--and something happens. Nobody wants that, of course. But if you weren't able to use your phone to call for help...
Anyway, if you have one, what kind do you have? I'm leaning toward the one that straps onto your shoe. But of course...what happens if you end up separated from your shoe? The wristlets are nice but I don't like the feeling of stuff around my wrist and already wear my HRM when I go out. Not sure I want to add another wrist thing...although the small silicone band might work. They aren't unbearable, even when you're sweating.
Also, do you have the regular or interactive version? I'm not a huge athlete but do plan to be doing longer walks and walk/runs as the weather gets nicer.
Just putting out some feelers to see what others have done.
Thanks!

I have the dog tag version mostly because my wife insisted that I wear it when I'm out riding (and she bought it for me).
I thought it was be annoying but I really don't even notice it when I'm on the bike.0 -
I have a wrist Road ID. I've just started running, so I'm usually too distracted by what my legs are doing or the little voice in my head to even notice my Road ID. I feel naked without it if I forget, like I did today.0

I have the wrist road id. Its always on when I ride. I have noticed a number of people wearing them out (non-ride occasions).0

I have the wrist one. I have had it for years.0

Dog tag version.0

I have the wrist band version and use it when I ride alone which is fairly often and usually at night.0

I have a wrist one, slim. I never take it off. My husband also has one for when he bikes.0

I don't have one. If anything happens to me the police will have to their job!0
-
I have 2 actually, I just remembered I had a new one from Christmas that the BF bought me. Geez I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached. Must remember to wear the new one.0

I love my wrist one. I wear it when I visit gyms in cities I am visiting, or running outside anywhere. Buy one. Wear one.0

I have the Wrist ID Slim. I went with that one because it was cheap and gets the job done. I bought a second band for it too so if I get bored with one I can swap it out for a different color. It also works with those "cause" bracelets that were all the rage for awhile so if you have those lying around you could swap them out for variety.0

I have the slim wrist one, don't even notice it when it's on.0

Cool. So do you all have the regular version or the interactive version? I'm a little concerned with the security of either--not that anyone would necessarily get close enough to look carefully at the regular one but you never know, especially if you wear it all the time. And then the interactive one...they say they work with EMS and law enforcement to keep your information safe, but I wonder how careful they really are if you were to lose it.0

The only info I have on my dog tags is emergency contact phone numbers, allergies and my name and age. Don't really see how that is a security issue.0 -
I used to have the shoe one; however, some paramedic friends were talking about all the people they'd seen who had been knocked out of their shoes when they'd gotten hit. So, when we moved and I needed a new one, I got the slim wrist one. The only problem now is remembering to put it on! But, I put it next to my Garmin and usually remember when I'm headed out for a run.0

In the UK we have something promoted by the police called ICE (In Case of Emergency), basically you enter your contact numbers on your mobile phone under "ICE-home", "ICE-wife mobile" etc. and the police are trained to look under your mobile for these numbers.
I also have my emergency numbers taped onto the back of my mobile in case it goes flat.
And if I get a flat tyre and have run out of tubes and patches, I can also use the mobile to call a lift!0 -
Shoot. Didn't think about the possibility of getting separated from my shoes and I just ordered the shoe one 2 days ago! Oh well, better than nothing!0

Great idea in theory except many don't run with their phones and if you're hit by a car and your phone is demolished, then what?0 -
My mom really wants me to get one. I move all over the country, usually live alone and don't always think to let someone local know where I am running. I have an ID tag on my running belt but I only wear that for races.0

I have the shoe one. I like it because it is already there and I do not have to remember it in the mornings before I hit the road.0

My husband, who bikes WAY more than I do, has one that he wears on his ankle. I always have a pack with a hydration bag and bring my wallet when I go.0
-
Oh and I alway bring mine because I was once watching some crime show, Law & Order I think, and they couldn't identify a murdered jogger and one of the cops joked "Would an ID really have slowed her down that much?".0
-
OR you could also get a cheapy real life dog tag from Walmart. I got some for my kids for Disney Land w/ just their names and my cell number. $7 a piece.0
-
Ah! I have wanted one of these for a while. Thanks for reminding me, I am ordering one now!0

I got the wrist ID slim a few weeks ago. Hardly notice it and always have it on when I go out riding now.0

I have the wrist ID. I wear it at the gym every day....just in case. I did get the slim one as well, but I don't care for it as much. It's looser than the strap ID and flops around on my wrist a bit, which bugs me when I'm lifting. I also found changing out the ID tag to be extremely difficult. So while I bought a couple of different colored bands for the slim, I just wore the black since I didn't want to waste 10 minutes trying to get the ID tag on the new band.
I got the regular, not the interactive. Not for security concerns, but because I didn't want the EMTs to have to spend time looking up my info online in an emergency. I have a breathing problem, and they need to know that right away if I'm found unconscious.
Neat little gadget and I recommend them to everyone.0 -

Same, for my wrist strap one.0 -
I have the wrist version in red so it will get noticed if needed.0

I got the wrist strap one in bright pink, (with a purple band for backup) I just put my full name and birth year on it, as well as my husbands phone number as my emergancy contact. We only have one hospital here, they won't have a hard time finding my records if they have my name.0
-
Thanks for reminding me; just ordered one. :P
Hopefully it won't annoy me and I can just wear it all the time. It's definitely a good idea since I don't bring anything with me on my runs other than a key.0
