Dance for cardio using youtube!!!

Options
Hi everyone! I am a personal trainer and have been using MFP for my own wieght loss goals and love it!! I have lost about 16 lbs so far and credit two things for my success thus far. MFP is one and the other is my Dance Party class that I teach twice a week. I love to dance but lots of the aerobic classes like zumba are too complicated or the intensity is too high for me. ( I have a heart issue that I take beta blockers for which caused me to gain 20lbs quickly and has made it very hard to shead the lbs) I decided to create a class where the moves were easier to learn and follow and teach it in an environment that was less intimidating than your stereotypical dance aerobics class. The following links are 12 songs that we do in my class, some of which I created and some are by other instructors. If you enjoy dancing, this is a great way to get a cardio workout with out having to spend money on DVD's and you just feel like you're having fun. The more you do them, and memorize the routines, the better the workout you can get because you can push yourself harder and go bigger on the moves etc. Enjoy!
Jennifer

I started using my Pandora account to dance to about 30 to 45 minutes of songs I love! I feel great after I'm done and it doesn't feel like a chore because I love the music and artists!

Gonna try them. I'm a dancer myself and already have dancing in my regular workout routine, but these sound like a fun little twist! Thanks:flowerforyou:

the great thing I think about learning actual routines to songs is that once you have them memorized, you can just burn a CD of those songs and pop it in a cd player anywhere and get a great, fun cardio workout. I have a cd with like 11 or 12 songs on it that is 39 minutes when you let it play straight through. I use this sometimes on the weekend in the morning to get a jumpstart on my day (knowing I'll usually cheat a bit on my strict diet on the weekend so I'd better do some cardio too!!!) and I can get such a great sweat going and really feel super when I'm done! I can't bring an elliptical with me wherever I go but dance routines in my head are pretty easy to carry around!! lol

    Hope you all enjoy!

Jen, thanks so much for the effort you put into these videos! Do you have one YouTube video that incorporates all the videos into one workout? I just completed the first four videos but stopping to set up YouTube was inhibiting my cardio pace. I was just wondering...

    Thanks again!

I do not have that yet but it's a great idea. Unfortunately, loading videos onto youtube makes that next to impossible for me. I think videos have to be under 10 minutes so I really have to just do one at a time. Glad you already tried it though! All of my choreography has verbal cues, but the other instructors don't use any so it's definitely harder to do those until you have done them a few times.

    Thanks for writing!

I had to remove the one video for Get down Tonight because the copyright issue kept taking the audio down. I hope to put up some more videos soon for your workout enjoyment!
