I have had type 1 diabetes and hypothyroidism (my thyroid does not work at all) since I was 9. In February I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 and Binge Eating Disorder. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression 3 years ago, although now my doctors are thinking they may be part of the bipolar. I have not binged in over a month, at first I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks, I was so happy...I gained 35 pounds in 3 months when the binging was at its worst (Dec 2012 - Feb 2013) grand total I gained 55 pounds in a year. Now I am continuing to eat healthy and have added daily exercise to my routine. I meet with a nutritionist once a week, but have been gaining 2 pounds per week the last two weeks. I also see an individual therapist 2x per week and am going to psychiatric day program to help with the bipolar and get meds straightened out, they said none of the meds I'm on should cause weight gain.
I feel extremely tired, despite actually being able to sleep at night (I used to have horrible insomnia and only get 1 or 2 hours of sleep). MY muscles feel extremely weak, I can barely move my legs when I do my elliptical in the morning, I know I'm out of shape, but my legs feel like they're going to give out just getting up the steps. Sometimes I get dizzy when I stand up. I can't concentrate and am cold a lot. I feel like my thyroid is off but I had it checked a month ago and it was fine and I am on the same dose. I feel so hopeless. I'm getting it checked tomorrow and I'm so afraid it'll just be normal and then I'll just keep gaining weight and be tired and fat and ugly forever. uuuugggg. I hate my life

Was this post just to complain, or do you plan to do something about it? A lot of people here have fought the same demons as you, they have overcome by focusing on a goal and putting in the hard work to see it through. If you are looking for sympathy or excuses, you probably aren't going to find it here. Make a commitment to a goal and you will be surprised at the support you will find from members here. If, on the other hand, you want to cite a litany of reasons you cannot lose weight, you will likely be right. Argue for your limitations and they will be yours.0

I was looking for other people who have similar health issues and could relate to my struggles and possibly make suggestions as to what may be causing my symptoms or how they managed their symptoms.
I am not looking for sympathy but am also not looking for ridicule.
I guess you missed the part where I mentioned I have stuck to diet set by my nutritionist for a month and have been exercising daily despite my fatigue and muscle weakness...I'd call that a plan and commitment. I am also getting my thyroid checked. So I am taking the initiative to find out if there are underlying problems.
I was hoping to find someone who could relate to my struggles and we could support each other through the process. Obviously that person is NOT YOU.0 -
I stand by my post. When YOU decide that you will overcome the obstacles, no matter how formidable, you will succeed. Obstacles come with a ladder and a crutch, the nice thing is you get to decide which one to use. Good luck to you.0
