A flatter stomach starts in the kitchen. Seriously. Pay attention to what you are putting into your body. I have found that when it comes to flattening my stomach (when I've gained weight, that's where it goes first), it all starts with food, and the last bit is through exercise.

I allow myself an indulgence once per week to satisfy cravings and keep myself on track, but that is it. Mindful eating is crucial to flatter tummy success.

Also -- you cannot "spot train" areas to flatten. Weight comes off everywhere, not just in a particular area that you happen to be targeting on. Focusing on whole body exercises and strengthening your core will be much more beneficial to torso toning than just doing crunches. Besides, let's face it: crunches are one of the most boring things ever invented in the history of exercise.

If you can stick to 80/20 eating clean -- that is, 80% eating well and within caloric range, and 20% eating what you want, you will achieve the results you want. But don't expect it to happen overnight. Fat burning and muscle development happen over a long period of time. You have to be patient and persevere, even during hard times.

    Best of luck!

It's such a slow process, for me anyway, just dedication to lifting heavy three times a week, HIIT cardio a few times a week and a very small calorie deficit. I don't eat clean I wouldn't say, but when I stay at my calories I noticeably look better and have a flatter, less bloated stomach. I just keep plugging away.... If I do nothing it'll never improve.

Spot reducing is relatively impossible. When they say abs are made in the kitchen, they mean that weight loss (overall weight loss from your entire body) is what allows the belly to get smaller. Ab exercises will develop the muscles so that when the fat drops away, you'll have a tight tummy to show. But until you slim down with your body fat percentage, you won't see a flat stomach.

Lose body-fat all over, squats, deadlifts, I'm sure body shape has something to do with it. I've never had a belly because I don't carry my weight there. If it's where you carry your weight you just have to keep losing before it'll happen.
