Fish Tea (just a brothy fish soup, and it's delicious)

*kitten*. British balls of 'meat' in a west country 'gravy' - we love 'em here :ohwell:

*drools* and they are so good. Doesn't help though that the leading brand is called Mr Brain's...

in my mother tongue, the word "olives" is same as the word "boogers" with added MA in front.
That was THE ONLY reason why i didn't try them until i was like 20.

    Slider.

What is it, and why is it sliding?

From what I've been told (accuracy not verified) is that White Castle burgers were called sliders as slang, because, yes, they slide down and right out of you. Now all small burgers are sliders which is kind of ironic considering the supposed origin.

This isn't gross but almost any German food - I always feel like I have to shout out the names:
    Braunschweiger!
    Jagerschnitzel!
    Rouladen!
    Rotkraut!
I'm married to a German and he always sounds like he is arguing with his parents when they call. My in-laws are the nicest people you'll ever meet.

The NPR show "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" had a segment on a Canadian cereal that was supposed to increase adult libido. The actual name of the product, according to NPR, was Sex Cereal. The host, Peter Sagel, had some suggestions for more imaginative names:

    Cap't Crotch

    Horny Bunches of Oats

    Grope Nuts

Hummus has always sounded unpleasant to me, though I do like hummus.

    Also, wiener schnitzel. Self explanatory.

Whoa don't sell yourselves short! Those aren't just any old meatball. They're organ meats ground, shaped and wrapped in hog omentum before they're cooked.

That's a very special sort of horror.
