Ruptured Cyst

I was doing so well too. I was so proud of myself, I was getting on my stationary bike almost every day & biking for 30 minutes, going at least 5 miles. The results were showing when I stepped on the scale too. However, Saturday I had an ovarian cyst rupture, sending me to the ER. Now my stomach is tender & I will not bike for at least this whole week. My weight is actually going up again. I don't want to get frustrated, but I am. Any suggestions on some cardo I can do without hurting myself?

Can you walk at a moderate pace? If you need a week off, take it. Just pay closer attention to your diet.

I really wouldn't suggest ANY cardio or exercise...as it's your tummy, you cannot get away with doing moves that are made for lower body injuries. A week will fly by and then you can slowly ease your way into it.

I know it's frustrating...I had 2 weeks off ANY exercise due to achilles tendonitis....but you absolutely MUST let your body heal...your body will need all the available energy to repair the damage donw by the cyst and the op.

Welcome to this forum and enjoy your week off working out :flowerforyou:

OH PLEASE let your body rest! It needs to heal, I'm stilling trying to get back to normal I had my neck fused in 2 places and was out for 2 months I tried to go back early and hurt more so follow the drs orders they know for a reason! You have a small setback but you get right back on the horse when your ready and you will get to the finish line one way or the other!

Take care of yourself no one else will do it for you!

I just don't understand why I work so hard to get the weight to come off, then it can come back so fast!

Ouch! Sorry to hear that happened!!!! I agree with the others -- do not take any chances!! And if you are gaining weight, it is probably fluid and some swelling and your body trying to heal itself. Not exercising for a few weeks will be ok.

I am sorry about the cyst. I agree with what ethers have said about taking it easy.

I know you are frustrated about the situation. I have had setbacks myself so I have been there and totally understand. When I get down, I am reminded of two things:

    1. Mood has a big impact on weight. If I am stressed, then it causes me to gain or stop losing weight.
    2. This is a process and there are going to be setbacks. Don't worry. Everything will work out.

Take care and this will be over before you know it!

Hope you feel better soon and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out!

Just chiming in to tell you to rest. I know it's frustrating, but the pain you may cause yourself will be so much worse!

(Ouch re: the cyst. I'm having one in my uterus removed at the end of July and never even thought of the possibility it could rupture. Take care of yourself!)

I want to thank everyone for the support. I think even just talking about it makes me feel less alone & less frustrated. Thank you all for that.
  • AH! I know how painful that is. Happened to me twice! Good luck and let yourself heal. One of mine ruptured while I was running. So painful. kept me sedentary for two weeks
