Atkins Bar- making my weight stall?

I am not on the Atkins diet but recently started buying the Atkins Advantage Chocolate Brownie bars as they taste so good and are high in protein and save me binging on chocolate bars.
I have started eating one a day as a snack to keep me full until dinner however my weight loss has stopped. I have made sure that i am in my calories for the day with the bars but that's the only new thing i have started to eat over the past two weeks and have lost no weight.
I thought maybe i had plateaued but i'm thinking it could be those bars! Anybody had them or know if they stall weight loss?

No, they won't make your weight stall. I think the bigger issue is you might have a too aggressive weight loss goal or you might not be eating enough. we will need more details though. What is your height and workout routine. We can see you are 25 and about 122 lbs.0

If you're not on a Keto diet, or Atkins diet I am honestly not sure if they would or not. I can tell you from personal exp. that they stalled me out, so I don't eat them anymore. However, I started out Atkins, but then made the switch to plain old Keto, so they might effect my weight-loss efforts differently from yours.
They certainly do have a lot of crazy ingredients that's for sure, but the coconut bars and the brownies do taste fantastic I can tell you that.0 -
I'd test it by not having any for a week and seeing if it made a difference.0

I'm 5'4 and i'm doing p90x at the moment. I also throw in some elliptical and 30 day shred.0 -

I know they taste so good. It keeps me full until dinner also. I know the ingredients list is crazy but i didn't think it would affect me if i am within my calorie limits.0 -
They absolutely could be the cause. What are the ingredients? If they contain “fake sugars” and other processed ingredients, your body can’t recognize and break them down like natural foods. That means they turn into waste your body can’t or is having difficult digesting. Waste equals weight, so they could be creating an issue for you.0

I can only tell you from experience that last year they made my weight stall, the second I stopped eating them I lost weight again! Muller Light Yoghurt did the same..maybe I have a sensitivity to whatever sugar substitute they used. Give them up for a week and see what happens!0 -

Yeah i think i will! Luckily i have been eating Muller Light fat free yogurts and it hasn't stalled my weight loss but the brownies might be the problem! Thanks!0 -
at 5ft4 and 122lbs, you dont need to lose weight, you just need to reduce your BF% a bit to look more 'toned'
all you need is a good full body strength training routine 3x a week, plenty of protein and a small caloric deificit (around 200 cals below maintenance)0 -
Kinda skipping the other comments, but my brother is on the Atkin's diet and he was eating the bars. He had to stop because his weight DID in fact stall. After he stopped eating them, his weight started to drop again.0

Try not eating them and see if it makes a difference, it probably won't, but maybe your body is not reacting to them well, so it's possible!
Remember what is good for one person, is not good for everyone!0 -
I stopped eating them, have you ever looked to see how much saturated fats are in those bars! one bar is like 1/2 a days worth!!0
-
They are not single-handedly preventing fat loss unless they're exclusively pulling you out of a caloric deficit.0

I did Atkins for 2 years. I lost 100 pounds in my first year, but when I started adding in Atkins bars, and more processed junk like low carb tortillas, low carb pasta, and shakes ect. only lost 30 pounds in the next year. I truly feel that low carb but WHOLE foods is the best way to eat.
So now I eat only whole unprocessed foods, and I have cut out Dairy as well. So no sugar, grains, dairy, legumes. And I feel better than ever!! I thought I would really miss dairy, but really it was an easy transition from Atkins to this.0 -
I agree with above, cut them out and see what happens? I think some of those protein bars can be just as bad as eating an actual candy bar. They have a lot of sugars. I recently changed from Luna bars to Quest protein bars or Kind bars ... Quest is higher in protein but both are all natural ingredients and pretty "clean" for a store bought bar0

I agree with this. In fact, without any deficit at all, and not losing anything (according to the scale), you could do a good strength program (like p90x) and still lose a few inches, building some muscle and losing some fat. I looked at your diary, and I really don't think you are eating enough - most days you are 200 calories under your goal; you also aren't logging the exercise every day, which should give you more calories (unless you took last week off). Don't undereat so much. You will short yourself of needed nutrients!0 -

Saturated fat is good! But the other things in that bar aren't. Things you can't even pronounce.0 -

Atkins products contain soy. Soy contains estrogenic compounds such as genistein and diadzein. Estrogen causes the body to store more fat, which is why typically, men lose weight faster than women (sorry, I didn't do it  ) .
There are still ongoing studies on whether the Soy estrogen contents in fact relate to lack of muscle gain and weight loss, but if given a choice I would avoid it at this time. Bodybuilders are known for avoiding soy and will actually take an estrogen blocker to increase muscle gains/weight reduction.
*note, if Soy Lecithin is low down on the ingredient list it should be ok. But if it is listed in the top few lines or if the product contains Soy Isolate then it contains too much Soy (estrogen levels).0 -

I'll have to have a look for Quest bars. Could do with a high protein bar that doesn't taste disgusting!0 -

I drink soy milk most days. I have been losing drinking soy. So i don't know if it's that.0 -

Your bigger issue is you are under eating. Programs like p90x require a lot of calories.. their base calories is around 1800 and that is for women. So when you do that program and then add more exercise, you will need more calories. I just use the link below and came up with a goal of 2000 calories for you. So if you do 30ds on top, your calorie goal would be around 2200. If you are going to do a program, follow it. Eating 1200-1500 calories on this program isn't good. I can tell you from personal experience that I have seen greater results at 2600 calories than I ever did on 1800 calories and I do a lot of the BB programs.

What is wrong with sugar? Sugar alone doesn't prevent weight loss unless you are diabetic and even then it's more based on carbs. While it may not be optimal for body recomposition, for weight loss, it's 100% about calories. It' gets a little strange when you dealing with issues such as insulin resistance, but many of us eat candy bars and processed foods and still lose. The fallacy that you have to eat clean to lose weight is made up recently by the food industry.0 -
No, the Adkins bar won't stall your weight loss as long as it's fitting into your calorie goal. However, you're 5'4" approximately 125 pounds according to your ticker? Your body is at a healthy weight. Instead of focusing on weight loss, think about body composition. Start lifting heavy weights to make those changes in your body. How many calories are you allowing yourself a day?0

I lost quite a bit of weight on Atkins, and ate an Atkins bar every night. I've heard, and even the Atkins book and web site say if you're stalling, cut out the bars. They contain sugar alcohols which effect everyone differently. I agree with the others. Quit the bar's for a week, and see if you start losing again.0
