here we go

I'm new here and I come mostly as a result of some recent and substantial weight gain. I am 58 and quit smoking 3 months ago. I subconsciously (or consciuously) used eating as a crutch to help with the smoking cessation. I had virtually no withdrawls from the quit due in large part to getting my mind wrapped around quitting such a disgusting habit. the quit process was also assisted by feeding my face! probably 20 new pounds (228 total) and my knees are now giving me serious trouble when I exercise. The cause, arthritis, sports injuries, WEIGHT! So here we go........I am well over the hump with the smoking thing and totally conviced to start this new phase in my life which includes smart and healthy eating, exercise and weight loss. Look forward to the association here and much success.
