I have officially started my healthy eating plan. I am determined! I started on Sunday and I was not feeling well at all so I consumed roughly 850 calories. Today I consumed about 2220 calories. This put me over my goal by 500 calories (with exercise included). I am trying to calm myself down knowing that it will all be okay and it will even out over the week.
HOWEVER... I feel like on Sunday was making up for Saturday (eating so much) and it is just some viscous cycle. It is like restricting and then overeating and I feel like I need to make up for the day before and I am never ready to START dieting because I have extra calories I need to burn off.
Does this make sense to anyone? Please someone help me get out of this mind trap!

Focus on weekly weigh ins. Do NOT weigh in everyday for this exact reason. Just because you splurged one day, doesn't mean its over. It does even out over a week (unless you over eat everyday).. Just take it day by day, and don't get discouraged!! There are days you are going to drastically UNDERestimate your calories, and days you will OVERestimate. Days you burned more calories than you logged, and vice versa. Focus day by day. If you over ate the day before, focus on the current day, and try not to over eat that day. But again, weekly is the best way to gauge. You'll be pleasantly surprised if you at least TRY to stay around your allotted calories0

Every day is a new start. If you have a larger consumption one day, just learn from it and move on. I have actually found that those kind of days dont effect my weight loss at all, as long as they arent too often. Thats why MFP also gives you a blank slate every day!
My days of such usually happen when I was super starving the day before too! Just get a minimum of about 1200 every day, and try to eat regular meals so you don't go nuts.
Good luck!0
