Probiotics

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good probiotic or talk about their experience with taking them good or bad. Thanks.

I found, from my own experience, that the healthier I ate the more regular I became. I increased my intake of fiber through lots of whole grains and I've incorporated Greek yogurt into my diet. My "plumbing has improved immensely.:ohwell:

I take the 5 strain Kirkland probiotics. They help if you have lots stomach issues. They are supposed to boost immune function and reduce the risk for all sorts of diseases. Check out probiotics.org it's a great source of information. Also important to note when you first start taking higher doses or probiotic supplements you might get flu like symptoms for the first few days.... While the good bacteria fights off and existing bad bacteria currently in your stomach.
  • I take Phillips probiotics (they come in a pink and purple box). They help me a lot. I have never been a "regular" person and always thought it was odd that people acted like going everyday was normal. I would go once every 3-5 days, sometimes longer which lead to a feeling bloated a lot. Now every 1-2 days is normal but I also try to eat a lot of fiber and yogurt at least 5 days a week.

I take a Nature's Bounty acidophilus probiotic daily. I have had IBS since 1985 (8 years old) and have been almost symptom free for the past 3 years since I started taking it on the advice of my doctor.
