I'm a sucker for being a eat-as-i-go person. Meaning, I never take the time to think about what i'll eat for that week, i just eat whatever is available and try to choose the healthier choice but im finding sometimes im caught off guard and is either running late for work and cant find the time to pack my lunch or consider what ill be eating for that day. I would like to start preparing my meals for the week....What is your strategy? Do i have to freeze the food? Will it taste the same? I have little room in my freezer to store te stuff??? Help???

I browse the Internet for recipes all week long, bookmark ones I want to try. Before I go to the grocery store on the weekend, I pick what recipes I plan to make, as well as staples for lunches and breakfasts, make a list and go get what I need. Then I have all the ingredients for everything I want to make all week. I always make enough dinner to be able to eat leftovers at least once for lunch, so that takes care of a lot of lunches too. I don't really do the make ahead and freeze thing, so no advice there.0

I only cook for myself so I usually pick what I want to make/eat that week then shop for it. Sometime if there's something that I won't use all I will find another recipe that I can use the rest of it for so it doesn't go to waste. Because I only cook for myself I usually have enough for 2-3 days so all I have to do is pick 2-3 recipes for the week and plan something for morning tea at work.
Not only will it make planning your calories easier (because you know what you're eating in advance, and when you have to be extra good, or get to have a few treats), you'll also save time only having to cook 2-3 times a week.
My friend suggesting freezing food which is a good idea if your cooking up large portions and you know you'll get sick of what you're eating after day 3 (which I often do) however like you mentioned I usually have very little freezer space. Though freezing half, and eating half might be a good idea.0 -

Grocery shopping on the weekend after I've decided what I want for the week. Prep day is Sunday.
This week for lunch: broiled tilapia, steamed cauliflower and green beans.
Breakfast: greek yogurt and a piece of fruit.
Snack: protein bar, more fruit, and I keep low fat ice cream in the freezer at work.
I pack everything the night before - it takes less than 5 minutes so in the morning it's grab and go.
I'm not a fan of freezing food because I tend to forget that it's in there!0 -
I do a protein shake each morning for 1st meal
for my 2nd meal/snack I will either do oatmeal with some protein powder and almond milk and peanut butter (It takes me all of a minute to throw a handful of oatmeal and some almond milk in a bowl & throw in the fridge - I then just micro it and add in the protein powder and peanut butter - stir and enjoy). I will also make up a muffin tin or two of turkey bacon/egg/veggie muffins (spray the tins with butter or use coconut oil, wrap a piece of turkey bacon around the edge of the tin, I put some shredded or diced potatoes in the bottom, some chopped up peppers and a whole egg or 3 tbsp of egg whites and bake at 350 until egg whites are set) - I will usually eat 2 of these to get my macros in
I usually prepare some chicken breasts and sweet potatoes or I might make up a crockpot meal (garlic honey chicken, teryaki pork, broccoli and beef) and some brown rice - I will portion it out into bowls. Sometimes I make up a batch of egg salad, or tuna salad and make wraps up. I will just package the wrap and veggies separately from the tuna so it doesn't get all soggy.
afternoon snack can be some greek yogurt, string cheese, apple, hard boiled eggs etc...
for dinner I usually have whatever i didn't have for lunch.
Hope this helps some
Angie
I usually prep two larger meals and rotate them for lunch and dinner.0 -
I cook my lean meats and veggies as I go, and my carb is usually a potato, or bread so meal prep doesn't take long. Plus I cook in a skillet so it's even faster :-)0
