Breakfast or no Breakfast ?

Guys,
If the calorie deficit is key, perhaps I should skip breakfast ? I never ate breakfast when I was younger as I am not hungry in the morning but I have "trained" myself to eat breakfast over the years as I was told that digesting breakfast burns up more calories than actually consumed.
What do you think ? Who eats breakfast, who doesn't ?

Wrong. Slap whoever told you that.
Eat breakfast if you want it. Don't bother if you're not hungry. It doesn't really matter.
Just make sure that when your head hits the pillow at the end of the day, that you are at a -300 to -500 calorie deficit.
Thank you and goodbye.1 -
eat breakfast,... you've fasted all night, break fast.. make sure tho that it is protein/fat and carbs.. I alternate between poached or boiled eggs on toast with mushrooms and cooked tomatoes.. or cereal (high fibre) with fruit and yoghurt.. or handful brazil nuts and good value low sugar cereal bar.. make sure you rehydrate.. some people suggest starting the day with warm water and lemon juice.. personally I couldnt think of anything worse.. if you have breakfast which is carbs only it's guaranteed you'll be starving in a couple hours and more likely to binge on the 'bad stuff'..0

Eat when you feel hungry. Simple as that!1

If you like breakfast and want to eat in the morning then have it. If you prefer to wait until later then do that. It's your calorie deficit over the course of the week that counts. How/when you eat your calories is up to you and will make no difference to your weight loss.0

I tend to eat a bigger breakfast and then I don't really eat lunch, I spend most of the morning in the freezing cold riding horses so need something to keep me going but if im not hungry by lunch I don't eat it or I only have a small salad0

Meal timing has no relevance to your weight loss, it's the defict that counts.
if you are able to meet your goals whilst eating breakfast, do it
if you feel better skipping breakfast and eating later - do it
Do whatever makes adhereing to your calorie goals the easiest.0 -
Thanks for your input - makes sense0

YES breakfast! I don't want to sit and explain myself here for 10 minutes why you SHOULD eat breakfast so you can simply read this http://www.beachbody.com/product/320.do0

I don't eat breakfast all the time, but they say it's the important meal of the day. Eat when you are hungry, no need to force yourself to eat, and also don't starve yourself when you are hungry.0

Really personal preference...Im always hungry the most in the morning...not so much in the afternoon/evenings. My breakfast isnt huge tho....just a protein shake and a cheesestick0

If only!
I eat breakfast around 3 days a week, and the rest of the time, I don't eat until around 1pm. It depends on my schedule for the day whether eating breakfast suits me or not. When I do have breakfast, it's fairly light, often less than 200 calories. I really prefer to eat more in the evening, so save most of my calories for my evening meal & snacks.
It really comes down to personal preference. Some people feel tired/weak/hungry if they skip breakfast. Others can't face eating too early and feel nauseous if they do. Some people find that eating breakfast makes them hungrier by mid-morning than if they skip it. You've just got to find the way that works best for you - your energy/performance and sticking to your calorie goal.0 -
I agree with everyone else here- personal preference and listen to your body. If you're hungry for breakfast- eat something, if not- don't. Personally, I love breakfast...it's my favorite meal of the day and gives me a good boost of energy!...But again, it's all about what works for YOU and YOUR body. Good luck!0

Unless you are diabetic and struggling with glycemic control, eat when you are hungry.0
