I'm male 5"7 162pds . I jogged/walked 4 miles at the local gym. My HRM said I burned 810 calories. The Treadmill said I only burned 420 calories. Which is more accurate the HRM or Treadmill?

4 miles is going to be closer to 420 than to 810. I'm going to go out on a limb and say your HRM is missing something in its calibration. I'm 5'7" and 157 lbs and if I run 6 miles in an hour I'll burn maybe 700 calories.
Does your HRM have your resting and max HR? What was your average HR for that workout according to your HRM?0 -
Yes my HRM has zone limits of lower of 91 and upper at 154.. Do you think these are wrong? .. The workout summary for 65minutes said my average heartbeat was 149 . Should the lower and upper be reset?
Based on this link it seemed about right -> http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/heart-rate-based-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx0 -

Those sound like aerobic zone... and possibly not even custom aerobic zone for you. If those are input as HR Min and HR Max, they're probably not correct. It would cause the machine to calculate that you're operating at 97% HR Max (149 avg with a max of 154) to get that really high burn.0 -
Definitely closer to the 420. I can run a 10 min mile 5k and still only burn 350 calories. If you want a more accurate reading, invest in a body bugg. I love mine! If I went off what even the machines said, I would be adding a additional 50% calorie burn to my daily intake and I probably wouldn't loose weight. The basic rule of thumb that I understand is that every mile=100 calories burned give or take depending on things like how fast, incline, each individual, etc...0

With a resting heartbeat of 63 , I think the lower should be 120 and upper should be 180 ..0
