Hi,
I am 5foot 3inches and 27 years old and am trying to get the accurate amount of calories i should be taking in daily. I workout almost everyday of the week if not then 6 days a week with sometimes doing 2 a days. My workouts are indeed mixed because I do a varity of different classes depending on the day and a little running (i plan to up my running). I just started Insanity yesterday and don'y want to gain on top of the weight i'm at because i plan to slim down then tone up.
I've been at a plateau for quite sometime now and can not figure out why. I keep being told that i am not taking in enough calories, so i want to see what women like me have been or are doing. I upped my calories 2 weeks ago to 1,294 (used JM's caluculator from her site) I am working out plenty and I don't eat terribly except for some weekend days. Are you seeing a consistent weight loss weekly? What calculator did you use to determine your daily caloric intake? Any suggestions?
I would like to friend women similar to me and follow what you are doing as far as you're food and exercise diary to get an idea.

I'm 5'3 and 3/4 so close, and turned 28 in January. I used this site to get help figuring out how much I burn and how much to eat...

Hope this helps!0 -
Thanks I will try it out and see what it says! Do you follow the amount they gave you? Has it been working for you to loose weekly?0

Says my BMR is 1466 and TDEE 2528. Do i now multiply this by .25 , if i'm trying to loose weight. The number it gives me seems like a lot of calories to eat daily, not even sure i could eat that many without going the unhealthy eating route that is.0 -
I'm 5'4 and I'll be 27 in May. I started with my calories around 1310 but hardly ever ate all of them. I usually stuck right around 1200. With my change in eating habits, I find it hard to get even that much in on a normal day.
I lost a lot of weight the first two weeks, about 15 pounds, and then after that I plateaued for about 2 weeks, only losing about 1.5 pounds per week. I decided to do the advocare herbal cleanse to try and jumpstart my weight loss again and since Friday I have lost 5 more pounds now.
I won't attribute ALL of that to the cleanse. A lot of it was cutting out dairy and wheat, which I was doing because of the cleanse but now think I will continue to do until I maintain. I have either eggs or oatmeal with fruit in the morning, a lean protein/veggie/complex carb for lunch, a healthy fat for snack (peanut butter with apples, almonds, avocado, etc), and then a lean protein/veggie for dinner with a complex carb if I need it (like brown rice, black beans, or quinoa). I think it was the whole wheat tortillas and english muffins that caused me to hold onto that weight for those two weeks so I will not be going back to those until I am closer to my goal, where I will begin to incorporate other foods into my diet carefully and see how each one affects me.
That's the plan, anyway.
Are you also taking your measurements? All the workouts you are doing could be why you have not lost weight but you might be losing inches!0 -
Thanks Kristin , this is very helpful! I had been doing english muffins and such for fiber and greek yogurt because I always hear others raving about it. I will also try to cut back on that once it's out of my fridge that is and follow your eating guide.
I started taking my measurements about 2 weeks ago when i had started JM 30DS.0 -
I am 5'2 and 27. The math hurts my head. I'm starting to suspect math is part of my weight problem! I just used mfp and I'm set at 1580 before working out. I've lost 2 lbs. a week, 2 consecutive weeks. So far, it's working for me, but it's only been 2 weeks.0

Awesome! I'll be really interested to see your results! I'd be really surprised if you didn't start dropping some pounds eating like that. I know everybody's body is different and reacts differently to different foods, but after that experiment last weekend I now see that dairy and wheat mean I'm not losing any weight. It sucks, as those are my favorite foods, but I've been miserable for too long eating all the foods I enjoy. I think it's about time I'm happy for once eating foods that are good for me and find new favorite foods that actually fuel my body.0
